    Hi all-

I've tried looking this particular coin up, but have come up on a dead end (or several ends anyway...). If anyone has seen it or has an idea that would help it would be much appreciated.

    Many thanks---

I've never seen that bird design before. It's delivering some kind of message. Makes me wonder if this isn't some kind of token or medal?

I'm pretty clueless with Arabic, I'm afraid, but I can read the date here, at least: 1322. So AH 1322 = 1904-1905 AD. I wish I could help with the rest, but perhaps someone else will be up to the challenge.

    Thanks lordo-
I kind of think it's a coin just because of the date... but what do I know--- this is why I'm asking of course.
I was thinking that the arabic on the reverse may be Indian, i.e. Hyderabad or another one of the Princely States thataway.
Appreciate your looking into it again, friend. With luck, someone will see it and go, "Oh, it's--------, from-------, and it's worth $80,000,000!"
    Well, we can hope, huh?

I was wondering if it was Ottoman or Indian. But I'm too far out of my depth.

You might be right- it could indeed be a coin, of a type I've just never seen. Perhaps someone will come along and solve the mystery. I really like that little messenger-bird. It's cute.

$80 million, huh? Good luck with that! ;)

That would certainly bring some New Year cheer, wouldn't it? :p

What is the weight in grams and diameter in millimeters?

    Bingo! Nicely done!

And I guess I misread the date on the one above. I have trouble with their 2s and 3s sometimes.

ddddds--- no doubt about it, you nailed it. It is 17mms and it weighs 1.2 grams. I did think earlier that it was from around 1913; because of your post i noticed that being from Iran they use the SH calendar, thus the 1953 Gregorian date.
So I'm knocking back some bourbon (just one shot, gotta stay in moderation) because I was SURE that this would be a head-scratcher for who knows how long, and then...Lo and behold! All of y'all rock!
Lordo, it's not the $80M i was looking for, but it's almost as good. I picked this up for 20 inflated US cents, it's made of silver, and it looks cool. What's not to like about this?
Thanks to ALL who have weighed in on this; 5d--- you the man...

    Cost = 20 cents
Value = 20 bucks (per the VCoins comparison)

Sounds like a hundredfold win to me! :)

that is so, Lordo, but it's more than that because: it's part of the "Hunt"- that elusive find that piqued your interest "just because". It was bought, investigated thoroughly using resources at hand, dead-ended because of lack of experience/knowledge (over the period of one week [because I like to try and do my own work, how else can you learn], then put out on yet another resource, i.e. CoinTalk, and BAM! this issue is nuked to the nth degree; I mean it's possible that 5d knows the name of the guy who designed the coin and what he had for lunch the day he submitted the design to the ruler at hand.
Which is what makes it all the sweeter.
I cannot be happier with the day I found out about this website. thanks to you all...

You got father with the date than I did.
My secret was right clicking and selecting "search image with google" :p
That got me close and after a few searches on vcoins, I found the match.

Interesting! Historically, I’ve had less success with that search method, and ended up getting image hits on everything from a Washington quarter to an Oreo cookie. LOL

It looks like they're trying to sell for $20. Not quite $80,000,000.... ;)

I haven't had much luck in the past but for some reason it worked this time.
