My first set of Halves had that look - maybe a touch lower in grade - but instead of focusing on LIBERTY and how many letters the coin had in "Liberty" - I went after a complete E-PLURIBUS-UNUM - as a result I ended up with a very pleasing collection. Over the years, I've assembled a few more sets - sometimes buying a complete set just to cherry pick out a few very scarce coins - then sell off the lower end duplicates - and if you do that enough times - you become very savy about certain dates. You may find one or two surprises along the way... have fun... its a great set of coins without any real show stoppers [ if you forget about the Micro O ... at least the Dansco doesn't have a slot for the Micro O. ]
Ok - lets get some more 1892 coins posted... 1892-O PCGS 50 One of my triplicates - at auction in August w/ HA
Ok guys n gals, this is my first Barber! The best pic I can get is a scan. Not the prettiest, but my first...sorta like, well, nevermind...
Not a bad looking dime. It kind of reminds me of the first Barber dime I ever had-- a 1910 that I bought from a neighborhood coin shop way back when
The 1892-S Quarter is extremely scarce in Type 2. I have been looking for this Type 2 in AU 58 for years !! Here's my AU 55 ...
Also, the Isabella Quarter - The Liberty Head Nickel - and the 1883 Hawaiian coins. I believe he also designed the OBV of the Pan Pac Half as well.
I posted this one a while back but since i like it so much i'll post it again. I have been looking to purchase a Au58 half for my type set, but it remains one of the last holes i need to fill. Every time i get into bidding on one i like i get beat by a 1-4 dollars. It has happened three times already.
i knew about the liberty nickel, but i didn't know about the others as well! i learned 2 things today!!
She was born in 1993 - so - it was a natural purchase - 1893 - 1993. I held out the Dime from my set as well... which I thought her parents wanted to give her... she'll get this one too - one of these days.
Speaking of 1893 - I picked this Half up a few months ago - in an ANACS 58 Holder I'm keeping this one - sooner or later my cousin's daughter will be graduating from High School [ next year - I think !! ]
