    Box of halves, skunk.

Probably gonna go pick up 2 boxes of dimes and a box of nickels later, since I'm off all day.

I spot them all the time, but the tellers usually decline to sell it to me. How do you go about asking for it?

Actually, what happened was she found the quarter weeks ago and bought it out of her tray and onto it after she showed it to me. When I was dumping halves on Saturday, I offered her $5 for it and she agreed, and I picked it up today.

I have spotted silver from tellers' trays before. On one occasion I found a 1951-D Franklin, but other times, the tellers were saving the silver for themselves or someone else. Some of the coins were a combination of 90% and 40% halves, silver Washingtons, and a mix of silver Roosevelts and Mercs.

Amazing, not many tellers would be so willing to give up something like that. Most of the tellers I deal with don't want to be so gracious.

If I did not search for and collect coins and someone offered me $5.00 for a quarter I'd do it in a heartbeat. That was pretty cool of her to part with it.

Got my open box of halves (String & Sons) from Friday and my 3rd box of that order. I had to open up $100 at lunch...here is where things stand:

    Box 1 (Totally Searche): 3 - 40% Halves
    Box 2 (Searched only $200): 1 - 90% Half (1964 Kennedy)
    18 - 40% Halves
    Box 3 (Will Search tonight)

So far I am totally thrilled and I still have $300 more to search tonight. I'll post totals from everything at the end.

It helps make up for the 3 skunks I got from the same bank last week. Good way to round out my first month in CRH!

picked up a box this morning. Skunk.

My last 9 boxes have produced a grand total of 1 40%er. I'm gonna do some dimes as halves really stink right now...

Ace sucking up all the half dollar luck.

    $11 loose, nothing.

Box of dimes; 4 silvers. All roosies.

Box of nickels, bit of everything good... 2 war nickels ('43 and '44-P's), a dateless buff, and about 3/4's a roll of pre-'60's, and an '88-S.

Got $215 in change today, couldn't get boxes from TD for once...

$160 in halves from that bank I still don't have an account with yielded a 68D, $50 in dimes nothing, and $5 in cents got me a 1955 a canadian and a dollar or two of copper.

One of 4 TD banks around me told me that they no longer order halves for customers, didn't push for a reason why, but anyone have luck ordering halves from TD? I think I'll ask WF tomorrow, the last time I went to pick up my order last year the floor manager warned that they may start charging for orders of change...

TD won't order for me any longer either. Whatever, I still dump thousands of halves on them every week... take that, suckers.

    First Post!

Went to 2 banks today and got 10 rolls of halves at each. First bank yielded 5 - 40%,
Second bank yielded 1 - 40% so all in all my first attemp at finding silver halves was okay felt like when I was a baseball card collector and looking for that one great card. Can't wait until tomorrow to go out and start all over.

Only the second time I asked for a box of dimes from TD the manager said, very nasty I might add "This is the LAST time I'm doing this for you!" Really, would it have killed him to just say "hey, sorry, we can't sell you dimes"? What a jerk. I hate TD Bank. Their customer service is horrible. I use them for their coin counter and that's it. I should save up a couple week's worth of coins and dump them all at once. That'll learn 'em!

On a happier note, I found 3 silver dimes today, 1 very mangled 64 and then a very nice 64 and 63.

I had a problem at one branch, so I went to the one a mile or two further down the road...so dumb having so many so close together...but any reasoning on the halves, Merc? I may try to the other branches around me, or Wells Fargo, or I'll break and open an account at the PNC that has halves on hand all the time...

Hey All - Final numbers are in, and I'm pretty stoked! Best couple of days so far in CRH (since Friday):

    Box 1 (Totally Searche): 3 - 40% Halves
    Box 2 (Searched only $200): 1 - 90% Half (1964 Kennedy), 35 - 40% Halves, 5 - NIFC
Box 3 (Will Search tonight): Skunk

Saturday and Sunday bank searches of loose and boxes turned up the following as well:

    2 - 40% Halves, 1 Merc (1943), 1 Rosie (1950), 1 Quarter (1956 - Reject Tray at TD Bank)

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wednesday brings me to 4 full weeks of CRHing very hard. My totals so far:

    1964 Kennedy's (2)
    40% Kennedy's (47)
    NIFC Kennedy's (15 - that I kept)
    Rosies (4)
    Mercury (1)
    Quarters (1)

Needless to say...I'm hooked! Good Luck everyone! Will be getting dimes tomorrow and my next order of halves is due in on Friday.
