+1 to all the people saying, "I don't buy raw KEY date IHCs".. Heck, I don't buy raw any Key coins anymore.
@Brian- I see that you changed your mind! LOL! If I had not seen the coin, I would have gone with your opinion anyway! -Taylor
Well, like I stated in my last comment, a proper photo really effects the way a coin looks. If I had seen it at a few different angles from the beginning, I may have thought completely different and agreed with everyone else. That's one of the reasons why it's hard to grade coins from photos and the only way to be REALLY accurate is to have the coin in hand under a loupe. -Brian
From the very large blowup of the first obverse picture, it appears to me that it has been tooled or conveniently scratched along the diagonal line of the ribbon crossing the hair thus giving the impression of XF over a VF.
Not all coins come slabbed....remember that slabbing has only been around for 25 years or so. There is still a lot of purists out there that despise slabbing coins. Especially early copper folks. I would gladly pay that price if the coin looks better in hand. I would never shell out that kind of cash on a hunch from a photo.
