So, I checked last night and saw a coin I had purchased online almost 2 weeks ago had finally arrived at my local post office. Finally I thought!!! I have been dreaming about this since the day I ordered it. I was so pumped to get it today. So, I opened my (locked) mailbox at my apartment when I get some from school...no coin. I look closer, there is a small postcard. I look at it...and it was one of those "attempted delivery cards" which I have to sign so they can leave it in my (locked) mailbox. I guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow.
1. Disappointing is when you never get the coin, this is just a small delay. 2. Now I`m curious about the coin you ordered... what is it? (If you don't mind sharing)
You're right, it's just a delay...but I had my hopes up and I'm whining about it. It's a BU 1940-A German 10pf Military Occupation (Reichskreditkassen) coin. Here is the photo from the auction.
That's a cool coin. (I know some here will say you shouldn't have bought the coin because of the swastika and the fact that it was issued by Nazi Germany. I don't share that opinion.) Please post better photos when you (finally) get the coin.
I know the feeling. My local branch used to open at 8am so I could go to work a little late and pick up my coins. Now it is 9. And I believe they now close at 5:30 - so now I have to leave early to get there on time. Blast them...the wait did not seem like that long when I could pick up at 8am, but waiting til the end of the day - pure agony...
In the Post Office's defense, they could have just left the package in your mailbox, and just forged your signature.
Just happened to me a couple weeks ago. Teletrade coin with signature confirmation required, sitting in the mailbox up at the street.
That is true. I'm not really complaining about the USPS service...as they really did do their job this time. It was just disappointing. I didn't know it was coming with a signature confirmation so I was expecting to get my coin all day.
Same here....in Nov. Letter carrier delivered it to the wrong address, never got a signature....night manager signed for it, her own name (the # of sig confirms needs to be confirmed each eve, and the computer needs to see X amount of signatures for X amount of packages with sig confirms..so, in order to avoid conflict, she signed for it...at 9pm!). 2-4 months, and one appeal later, I got my $600 back (the bat rastards wouldn't refund the postage, or cost of sig confirm, either). Camaro and I had our own little ride on the USPS merry-go-round very recently.....don't get me going on the USPS!! lol Hope the package is there for you tomorrow (today).
The image won't show up for me... BUT I also have this coin and got it for what I think to be a really good price and its in amazing condition. As for those who say you shouldn't own this coin, all I have to say to that is... Its a piece of history.. NOT ALL HISTORY IS GOOD. That being said, you should never forget the past. I think this coin is actually a really neat one to have.
So, it didn't arrive today either. I left the signed card in the box...and the card is gone. But, no package. Do you usually pick the card up and bring the package later? There is no notation on the delivery confirmation page for today.
OK, so I just dealt with the USPS automated system for a while before speaking with a human...the noticed was picked up today (apparently) and it takes 1-2 days after that to get the package. Boo.
OK, so I promised photos. I started a new thread in the Foreign section for the coin. Here is a link: http://www.cointalk.com/t178994/
