thanks to Bobbeth and Aggie, I joined our local coin club this past week. This isn't roll searching related but I won in a raffle a REALLY nice 1883 Morgan.. Bobbeth has seen it and I give it at least (being conservative) AU 58.. Most likely a MS grade.. very nice for $5 worth of raffle tickets..

Out of the $40 in dimes from above only one roll was BWR. When I got home I opened the last two rolls of dimes I could not get to at lunch and the BWR was last, and out pops a nice 1964! I was stoked as I had not found anything silver since Friday. The $10 nickles were skunk on silver and I got one 1940. Going to get more dimes today on lunch and I'm not taking any CWR's they have not been kind to me lately.

    Merc Dimes

Merc and anyone who searches lot of dimes.
I see averages of 2-3 silver per $250-$300 searched, but what are the odds of finding a merc?
I'm still hunting for my first one, and by no means am I complaining about my 2-3 silver per box average.

Unscientificly (from my personal results), about 8% of silver found (1 out of 12-13).

Roughly one in 8-10 silver dimes, I don't know the exact number, but can tell you later when I get into work.

I think it was more a lack of knowledge. I got a Walker, 2 Franklins, the Booker T., a 1964 and 4 40%'s from that teller, all loose. One of my best early scores out of a tray.

My average is about 1 per $250 (so be pleased with your percentage). Out of 59 total silver dimes I have found, one was a mercury dime.....the only one I've ever found. So, it greatly depends upon your area.

1 merc out of 59, wow. I'm pleased with my averages and have found 8 silver dimes so far. I have not searched a ton since I just got into this and don't have more than a couple hundred in cash to buy coins with. The answers (ALL) you guys provide are not something you can just "google" so I appreciate it. As long as the silvers keep coming it does not bother me much w/o a merc, I just want to find at least one someday to say I found a Merc.
