Merc - Yeah...I got you beat by a few years. I turn the big 4-0 on Friday. I'm heading down to OCMD with my girlfriend and my kids for a long weekend. So, I'm hoping to hit a few banks down there and around the area.

Maybe you can tell me something with the dimes...after awhile I was starting to see double...I just started to check the sides. I hope I didn't miss anything, but the rolls looked machine wrapped with a ton of the rolls with one side that seemed to be rolled back down. So, I think these were dumps.

How do you check your dimes so you aren't spending hours (like I just did)?

    Oh well...tomorrows another day.

Good Luck finding the J-O-B. You said Wells Fargo and PNC. Do you get boxes of halves from them or loose halves? Please expand on how/what you've been lucky doing with them.

    Thanks!

Manage a retail store. It sucks.
40 isn't too bad, you were talking like you were 60. You used to own a few businesses, though? Sounds interesting. OCMD is always fun. Every bank down there last summer wouldn't help me for nothin, though. My family vacations in Dewey, so I'm pretty familiar with the area. I'd stay away from the major bank chains and just hit up the interior area of MD.
I only check the sides. The silvers can be dirty, so what I look for is the separation between copper and nickel, what I call the separation line. If I don't see it, I check it. TD Bank rolls can be tough because the clear wrap can distort the colors you see a bit, but the machine rolls, I don't have any problems with. I've pulled several silver dimes with completely black edges you wouldn't have thought were silver.
I've already found it, got an interview next Friday... I need all the luck I can get. The only banks I have actually order me halves would be local banks. Everything else is loose or in customer rolls. Big chains are too much of a hassle to get to order, typically, at least. PNC and WF are the best out of those to actually get them to order, though, around here.

Well, don't hold out Erin....how many did you find?

My BIG box was 87 silver halves including 21 1964's and 5 Franklins. That was my best box ever. So.....do tell.

I'm an assistant manager, but I carry the duties of the manager because he's pretty much vacated his position these days.

Sounds like me I am an assistant store manager of operations. But since I got back from my comp week at the beginning of February we have been short a store manager(until this week.) so me and the other assistant had to step it up and run the store and do our job as well.

I work in a smaller store, so it's not too bad. Still sick of retail and the job I'm going after is basically a desk job with a $15k raise, so... can't beat that. And I actually will get off every other weekend!

Well I work in a low volume store for our company I just recently got promoted in September with about a 12k raise. I am only 21 so I am not doing to bad, but sometimes I really can't stand working retail( kind of like tonight). My job I must say I do love it is a learning experience and there are new challenges at hand everyday which makes work a little more fun. It is mostly the customers that make the job hard.

Merc - Did you just hit banks in OCMD downtown?

Thanks for the tips on the dimes.

The majority of my customers speak Spanish, not English.

I don't speak Spanish. So I have the same issue, I just cannot stand the customers at all, they literally push me to my wits end every single day.

Yeah, just downtown, and that was at the peak of the tourist season too, so... Maybe you'll have better luck.

LOL I feel like this is the norm working anywhere in retail now. It drives me crazy I didn't know I needed to learn a second language just to work. I get maybe 1 awesome customer out of 100 I encounter.

I'm staying outside of OCMD. So, I'll hit up the routes in and out of town and maybe a few small towns in MD and DE. Will keep everyone posted.

    Aggiecollector,

Post your findings!! Bobbeth, you will be amazed!! I've seen pics!!! Awesome score man!!

4 boxes thus far this week..

7-40% two no 'FG' (really cool.. that makes 8) A DDO '74D and a crapload of NIFC.. still no '09 yet..

All the silver came from one box.. I have too many halves now and I think there are gonna be some upset tellers this weekend!

Congrats to Slam and Merc on their manager jobs.

I got a manager job this week as well. It isn't retail, but Corp. I'm excited although my main pickup bank is going to change :(. I'm getting transferred..

    Good luck to you all!

With everybody cracking boxes of half dollars, has anyone here been lucky enough to find an early commemorative half?

Same exact thing here, I can't stand it. The thing that kills me is they have no desire to learn english either, I try to teach them how to say, for example, "I need to pay my bill," which is "Neccisito pago la cuenta de telefono," in spanish, and the next month, they come back telling my employees, "Pagar!" and waving their phone around like a bunch of idiots... alright I'm done ranting.
Good luck, man. I plan on heading to the beach sometime in the next couple weeks and taking the back roads through all those little towns to find me some silver.

Also, Aggie, did you get a dream box or something?
