Another box of dimes, 1 silver, an AU '61.

Picked up $250 in halves from my favorite bank, someone elses dump. I sure hope nobody is onto that spot, because that would SUCK.

Went to my local bank branch to get a stack of ones for... yard sale change. Yes, that is the ticket.

Anyway, I always ask for halves and dollars there because there is an older local population and I am certain that they bring in old stuff.

So my usual teller says, "Only this roll of dollar coins". He hands me a mint wrapped roll of Jefferson dollars, so I think, hey, maybe I can make 5 bucks on them off of ebay. I ask about halves, and he says, nope, and asks another teller. She says: "12 bucks worth" So she grabs them all, and walks over, and plays with them a bit, and I hear the lovely sound. Jimmy Stewart was wrong. Every time a silver coin clinks in a teller's hand an angel gets his wings.

She counts out the 12 dollars, and angels are getting their wings left and right. (I hope this doesn't mean a bus crashed)

Of the 24, 14 are silver:
    1964x1
    1965x1
    1966x1
    1967x1
    1968x6
    1969x4

This is my first score of silver halves ever, and as my wife and I are moving to another country, I am super happy as I can sell these and get the equivalent of about 2 weeks staple groceries.

Searched 9 rolls of halves today, my local teller called to tell me someone dropped them off. No silver but did find a 2009 in pretty good shape, my first NIFC. 2 questions: 1. Do slot machines accept silver halves? 2. Are there known errors on 2009 halves? I know almost nothing about errors, but I believe there is something going on with the neck. I would post a picture but can't right now, hopefully later, but I figured someone might know of the error and be able to help me out. It looks like a crease about a third of the way down the neck that goes more than halfway across the neck parallel to the bottom of the neck. Any help would be appreciated!

Box of nickels gave up about a roll of pre-'58's, a couple of which were AU-MS... a 1940 and a 1942 non-silver. I did pull a 1943 war nickel with a crazy lamination on the reverse, goes from left and under Monticello diagonally upwards through the mintmark to the other edge of the rim. It could very well be a '43-D (The only War Nick that eludes me...), but the darn lamination eliminated the mintmark. Also pulled a '37 buff.

Bob, you found that great box a while back. How many were in it? I think my box today was close. I know I found more in my box today than I have in the last 60 boxes combined.... I got someone's dump...in a good way! And I think I only got half their dump.

Those of you that give your business cards/phone numbers to tellers, how do you feel about it? I was thinking about starting to do that today and then I thought about how my address and phone number are on my cards and then I thought about what could happen if the wrong person got it....How many of you do give out your card to tellers in confidence?

I have my work address on my cards, not my home address... I don't know anybody who has their home address on their cards.

Mine state name, company, title, work email, and contact number.

Well I just gave one lady at my local branch my phone number because she asked for it so she could call me if they got anything cool in. I have asked about old dollar coins and anything silver. She says she notices silver coins in her tray sometimes because she can tell them from regular coins but she just leaves them there, so I'm just hoping she calls me when she gets any in, and she did call today to let me know about the 9 rolls of halves. I didn't give my address or anything, but everyone in town knows where I live anyway.

Also want to add that my cousin works at burger king and someone paid for their whopper with 4 morgans the other day. She sold them to my coin collecting grandfather for $10 apiece, and he has now traded me for "$40 worth of silver halves" I gave him 4 of my 64s to reimburse him for the $40 he spent on them. That's my score of the year.

Merc, that's the difference between you and I, I don't have a work address, and I just graduated from college, so I am back at home. I was thinking about blacking out my address or something? I feel like it would be worth it to give my card to the tellers though...

Nice pickups, especially on the morgans. I got 8 Ikes today, filled a hole in my Pres. $1 album, and picked up 3 wheaties from $5 in CWR cents.

Just make something up. That's what my friend did, haha. Uses an address in an area that's trendy for small businesses around here, Media, PA.

Maybe I'll just write out my phone number. This is also a teller that I've been dealing with since before I could bank on my own. But for the other banks, maybe I'll use some of your advice. I'm so excited to start searching again!

Merc - just so you know...I'm intentionally staying away from your part of the county. As I said before I owned a couple of businesses in my day and I don't believe in getting ahead by stepping on others. Unfortunately, I'm having NO LUCK this week finding any silver in Exton or the Rt. 30 stretch a few miles east and west. Very frustrating. Finding halves is not easy period. I will get more halves in boxes from my bank from last week next week as I'm out of town tomorrow night through Monday.

$200 in dimes - Nothing! Ugh. Can't wait to get outta town and hit some small town banks on Friday when I have time!

I'm staying out of your area too. Just FYI, I've had my best success with Wells Fargo and PNC, generally speaking.

I'm guessing you're a bit older? I'm only 24. With any luck, I'll be getting a job in the Newtown Square area, which means WC would be more open for ya to go at... and I'd get a big raise. So let's hope that happens, haha. I haven't found much in WC anyway, at least in the way of halves.

If you want a change of pace, get a couple boxes of dimes from the bank. I've been finding a few Mercs lately, so that may be a sign that dimes are warming up a bit.

Ah, I see you beat me to it... which way you heading? W, E, or N? I plan on going out Friday too, since I'm off, so yeah, haha.
