Not yet, I've only been through < $300 of nickels though. I'm hoping I can find the 38's and 39's. I haven't even found anything older than '40

I completed mine about a year ago. Went through about 5000 CWR to get done. The 38 and 39 D and S were the hardest to find. After about 10 or 15 thousand rolls I have only found 1 or 2 of each. The 50D has the lowest mintage, but lately (in the last year has popped up more frequently, I have about half a roll of them. I never buy boxes from the bank just CWR. This has resulted in full rolls of buffalos (completed over half my buff colection from CWR) and several individual liberty heads.

I've had about half CWR and half BWR, I've actually found more of the old dates in one batch of BWR that I got, but I've found more war nickels in CWR

Yeah, I have had droughts with the CWR but can't complain considering the highs. I've pulled 10+ rolls of war nickels from them. The last 18 months or so have been fantastic, however it has slowed down lately.

I may have to go try to get a box/bag of nickels, depending what my bank has. I've never asked for bags from their coin counter before hmmmmm. However, the bank I have an account with only has BWR from US Bank (My bank isn't US Bank). However I'm able to get a lot of CRW from another bank I've never had an account with, I'm just waiting for the day when they ask about it!

My set is complete except for the ' D over S's' and ' S over D's' and ' Horizontal 46-D'. I stopped at 2003. Completed a Westward Journey folder. Haven't continued after that. All coins are from circulation.
They are all in 2x2's in a three ring binder.

I recently completed a Jefferson Nickel set. From 62-2011 I was able to pull all the coins from circulation. From 38-61, I got about 70-80% of the coins from circulation until I finally broke down and bought most of the keys, 50D, 38S, 39D, 55 and some of the more scarce war nickels.

The interesting thing was that I found at least half of the silver war nickels still in circualtion.

I avoided the roll searching and have gone strictly from pocket change, i made a simple rule the nickel must be handed to me as change from a purchase, started this around 1999, and have not completed the set. I am about 10 coins short. Amazingly the 38s and 39s were all handed to me by a cashier somewhere. I am not sure it will every be completed from this method, I have not added a new piece in over a year.
