I was confident that the mint stopped producing JFK halves for circulation in 2002, though it wasn't that unusual to find more recent years in rolls due to mint sets being broken apart and the like...... I was perusing the roll hunters thread the other day and saw a photo of a near full roll of 2022 JFK halves in one photo. Did the mint begin business strikes on JFK halves again?

They didnt really stop, they just only do it when theyre ordered. The mint doesnt control whats produced for circulation
I get a two roll set, D & P every year from the mint. Going back several years. Check the US Mint site and check the production schedule,
The mint never stopped making them but they don’t release them into circulation either. You basically have to buy them from the mint in coin rolls, a P and a D set. If I wait my LCS will have them so I can but singles but since my folder is full, I’m done with them.
I never knew how peaceful it could be not anticipating and watching for new coins from the US Mint. My books are full and it seems we can't get new albums or updates.
Except they have been for a while now. Again they dont release or determine anything for circulation coins, they fill the orders from the fed for circulation coinage.
Actually people are finding them in circulation now in almost entire boxes. Seems with the change shortages the past two years they've been released into circulation.
The Federal Reserve determines what actually goes into circulation. In 2021, the Fed ordered half dollars for circulation for the first time since 2001. A similar order was placed in 2022. I remember hearing that the mint did make some half dollars for release into circulation this year. Why I don’t know. It seems to me that coins are used less and less. I was in a Michaels Hobby store the other day and saw a sign where they were strongly asking customer to pay only with debit and credit cards. I don’t pay with cash very much and seldom get change.
Actually as 50 cent pieces if the casino doesn't have a dedicated 50 cent chip. Now when you get on one of those blackjack tables where they have half dollar coins make sure you EyeBall the dealers rack look at the ridges for silver. Probably won't find a 90%er but 40%ers still turn up. You'll have to explain yourself to the dealer maybe the pit boss if they think you're a bit strange.
So this is just advice on how to get banned from a casino if you arent betting a ton of money being a pain in the you no what over 50 cents?
I probably shouldn't even respond to that comment, But Last time I spotted a silver half dollar in a rack was years ago. Sitting on third base for the a better view. I exchanged $3 worth of $1 chips for half dollars, took a look at them and didn't see the silver. I then placed them in front of each players hand for a dealers bet on the next shoe. The dealer busted and everyone won. The next time I asked for the dealer to pull a little lower in the tray for that more silver looking half. It was a 64 Kennedy and two 40%ers. I explained what I was looking for after the dealer asked me. Dealer didn't know anything about silver coins...she does now.
