Jello.. did you buy this coin? Obviously heavily worn and damaged, but are you sure it's fake? Looking at his past auctions, most of the coins look genuine to me.
Looks like it may have been made into a button, or a pin, at some point. But it doesn't scream fake to me.
***Sorry say this but yesI won't post a lie! but sadly this was a fake that sell told me grandma had it for years. when I told him it was counterfeit he or she said send back I will break my no refund rule. **the sell may not know it was a fake as all the other thing are not coins they sell. **** but when I seen that other coin listed I felt like I need to tell what I got from this seller. It was a cast coin made out of something that would stick to a magnet & you could see the pour marks. I don't often buy on ebay but that is one date that I needed to fill in one of 5 a hole in my Seated Half set I do sell on ebay but not counterfeits all mine are extra coins I picked up over 50+ year of collecting Gold ,Silver & copper US & World coin & ***In no way is this a seller to seller feud on eBay!!! I hope that helps
Yes. +1 to this. So, the seller said it was one of his grandma's coins? And when you got it, it didn't pass the magnet test and was a cast?
I'll get back to you when my team deciphers your posts, Jello. Can you put a bit more effort into typing clear sentences with a clear beginning and end? With periods, commas, anything? I mean seriously, one of your sentences is "he sold grandma". I'm pretty sure grandmas are not being sold on eBay, let alone fake grandmas.
He's saying the coin is cast, not silver. It stuck to a magnet. And it looks poured. I don't know anything about a magnet test. But the coin looks like it has something on the reverse (a blob of metal) or maybe that's where it was poured.
But the coin in photo was not what I got it was a casted copy of that maybe? but sure was no a US silver coin 4 sure it would stick to a magnet
Why don't you post a picture of the coin you got? Because everyone is commenting on the one in the ebay listing.
I should have not posted this, I was so mad I forgot too. but today the seller refund my money. *just say away from that seller if your buying coins,as there are not many listed there.****I think seller is not a big coin seller**** there more old things at there store not many coin. sell may not know coin sold me was not real I would not go back
From what I could understand, it sounds like all ended well...you were able to return grandma for a full refund because she wasn't made of silver, and may have even been fake. I would agree, purchase your grandmas elsewhere. -LTB
I am the seller of this coin. Must admit I was quite surprised to find he's been posting this on coin forums although I shouldn't be based on my experience with him on eBay. Let me start off by saying Jello is flat out lying.... the coin shown in the listing is the same one I mailed to him. And the coin is real and I would be more than happy to send it to anyone here to verify it. The coin was damaged and I said so in my listing and said I thought the coin was in the About Good to Good range. Even though I knew the coin was real when he complained to me on eBay I just gave him a refund and thought the issue was over until he left me feedback saying I sent him a coin that wasn't real..... which as I'm sure people here can understand could really hurt my coin sales. What I think happened is his English isn't that great (as is probably evident in his posts in this thread) which is fine but he either didn't bother reading or didn't understand my listing where I said the coin was damaged and instead of just saying so he decided to claim that the coin is fake..... and now in this thread once some people commented that the coin looked real the story has changed to that I didn't send him the coin in the listing. It really is annoying that I'm trying to do what I can to make more money to get by in this economy and because of this one guy I may lose some sales. Edited to remove a name I called him.... sorry, didn't mean to break any forum rules, I'm just very frustrated.
