    Friday Report

    BWR H's: 100 rolls -> 5 x 40%, 1 Frankie, 1 '64; first box had 1 40%, second box had 4 x 40%, one Frankie, and one '64
    CWR H's: $6.50 loose -> 1 x 40%
    BWR D's: 50 rolls -> 3 Roosies
    BWR P's: 93 rolls -> 20 rolls Cu, 14 wheaties

    After the timing belt in my car broke, destroying the interference engine (pictures upon request), and earning my car a place on the mechanic's "Wall of Shame", the roll hunting was seriously curtailed this past week. :heated:

    Funny thing happened yesterday: I go to a dump bank, and while in line, I see 6 bags filled with H's in front of the counter, then I see a guy from the merchant teller line step up, and I realize he's dumping. No biggie. I run some more errands, and about an hour later go to another branch (which I have occassionally used to dump) to score some D's and P's. There's the guy again! He's shuffling through H's right there in the lobby - made me think of a crack head lighting up on the spot after scoring a vial. :eek:

    Well, I get a box of D's and two boxes of P's, and I notice while I'm leaving, the guy is shuffling through rolls that I dumped there earlier in the week! :too-funny:

    Well, I'm off to my favorite bank for some H's and D's... Everyone have a good weekend!

    I always thought that was lacking tact, to just bust the rolls open and search 'em there, then hand back what you don't want. I never, EVER do that. If it's offered to me (Except gold dollars, ugh) I take it and leave with it (Paying for it, mind you! :p). Every time.

    Box of cents;
    27 wheats. Oldest was 1918, nicest was the '57-D. Nothing notable besides the RD one. One nice MAD, almost cuts into the lettering on the obverse... it's a '93. One dime, and 6 or 7 Canadians. Oh, and 3 other BU 1960's cents.

    Absolutely!

    I was thinking of asking on here if anyone has some crinkly, old looking H wrappers, to mail them to me; I'd fill a few with some junk, write something like "silver" on the outside in faded pencil, then have my wife cash them, one at a time, at the second bank he was in. :D

    I'm sure I can find you a bunch. ;)

    I'd write like, Barber, Walker, 1964 etc on the rolls. Seal them with rubber cement so they're a PITA to open.

    Oh, don't forget, like, Bust, Seated, etc. Might not work pre-seated era, though, because the half dollars were substantially larger.

    Box of nickels; 1 war nick ('43-P) 1 Buff ('29) and one fairly impaired 2001-S. This is my first nickel or cent box without a single foreign coin.

    EDIT: Not really related to roll searching, but I also got my first star note today in change($1)!

    Man, I love my new bank! Pretty young ladies all smiles when I arrive, cool nerd guy asking what I've found lately... nice way to start off the weekend with a box of H's and a box of D's.

    So on my way home I go by a TD Bank. So, I stopped in to run the halves I couldn't wait to crack open till I got home. I had already unwrapped $50 in halves with no success. I wasn't having a really good feeling. I ran the coins through the coin counter go to the teller and ask as she counting out my $52.50 (I had some other change from the past few days I threw in) if she had any halves. She said she had 2 and she ask the other tellers...she snags 2 from the drive thru teller. I thank her, get my cash and head out to my car. In the car I check out the 4 halves....2 were duds, and 2 were 40%ers!!! I was like **** YEAH!

    So, I get home and my girlfriend and I knock out the search in about 50 minutes. Out of the $500 box we pulled 3 more 40%ers and 1 1964 Kennedy (90%)!!! YEEHAW!!!

    I got the kiddies this weekend, so I'm going to sneak out early tomorrow to cash the rest of my junk halves, try to grab some more loose rolls if any banks have them, and get ready to order another box this week! My first day results:

    5 40% Kennedy Halves
    1 1964 Kennedy Half

    I'd say that was a decent start!

    Oh - also forgot to mention I held onto:

    2 x 2001 Kennedy D's
    1 x 2002 Kennedy P
    2 x 2003 Kennedy P's

    I know those were not supposed to be released to circulation. Anyone keeping these? Are they worth anything at this point?

    Thanks,

    Ace

    Yes, in addition to silver, I (and most others) keep 1987 P&D, 2001 P (this one is debatable), 2002-current P&D, and proofs.
    2001 D isn't an NIFC, according to the red book, but P is (even though they made a ton of them, like the D's).

    Thanks Lon - I'll probably get rid of the 2001's then. Off to get halves counted and turned back into paper bills and hunt for some more!
