Ok guys - I know this is an old topic, and that we have gone over this before in the first 14 pages, but when posting imges of coins, remember that this is a family friendly forum - while I know that some of these coins do circulate in other countries, please keep the images posted to those that are ok for all ages.

Seriously. You censored a pic of a coin that shows less than you can see on pretty much any movie or TV show?

There is a thing as being too cautious.

I just googled that coin, and it looks like the obverse image is a depiction of a very famous painting by Goya. Censoring that is a bit like putting a pair of underpants on Michelangelo's 'David'....

Ok, if that's the way it is, you'd better go back and censor all of the other posts showing bare-breasted coins unless you're simply picking on the newbie. There are quite a few.

No idea what was allowed and what was censored in the US fifty to sixty years ago. But those two works (La maja vestida and La maja desnuda), for example, are about 200 years old and have been in the Museo del Prado for many many years. Oh, by the way, what would you do if an American child happens to see a catalog or poster of our euro circulation coins?

Like I said - we have gone over this topic before in the first few pages of this thread. If you care to read those pages you might see those comments.

It is very possible that I missed one or two - feel free to report those posts - I'm on my way out for part of a class I'm taking, but when I get home, I'll go back over the last few pages to check into this!

You will find that I only removed pic's that either featured it in great detail, or where it was a token.

This is also in keeping to what other Moderators/Admins have said on other threads/comments/posts. This is not just me picking on a newbe---I would have hoped that by now you would have known me better than that.

I'm only a Moderator for CT - and the rules here at CT are very clear - you know yourself, since you have been in this topic before - this is a family friendly forum, and while I'm a Moderator it will stay that way.

If any of you wish to have the rules changed feel free to talk it over with Peter as since he is the owner, he makes the rules that we follow.

I just wasted minutes of my life reading the first few pages of this and saw nothing about WHY some can't be posted and the 16/17 SLQ can, other than the "keep it in the 50's" quote, in which case, I must say - Marilyn Monroe.

Goya himself had some trouble with the Inquisition when the Maja Desnuda was shown. That was a mere 200 years ago. ;) And why the Maja Vestida image had to be removed here too, I don't know. Oh well, since the information itself is still there, everybody who wants to can search the Internet for those coins. Can live with that ...

Looks like I removed some posts back when the thread got started - must have removed my reply as well.

    OK -
So we can all think of coins that are not "family friendly" - some are Tokens, some are coins...right off the top of my head I can't think of a US coin, but all of them are from other countries.
Those coins are not welcome here on CT - they haven't been allowed here since day one - if you want to do a search, you can find where our Administrator even posted in the World Forum that some coin pic's are not to be posted. (I would post a link, but I'm still half asleep from doing a ride-along lastnight till 2AM and can't put my finger on it.)

I'm sure a list of the coins not to be posted could be made, but for the most part it is just common sense.

If you have questions or comments, you can feel free to either PM them to me, any of the other Mod's, Admin, and Peter.

In my opinion the last image removed, needed to be. It was a bit flashy for some of the young folks here. The image did have a lot of detail.

Heck, some of the old guys here might have had a heart attack just looking at it.

Only from the pages of "gentlemans" magazines and I dare say that wouldn't be appropriate here......:)

I just love this posting. With 23,000 views... not to be sexist, but this makes it obvious that most collectors are men. Mention full-bodied beautiful women and coin collecting has just added another feature to its already dynamic array of collecting themes. I think I've just been re-inspired, numismatically speaking of course:)
