So today I shipped my coins to NCG, I have spent " You will laugh " 5 days looking for the best boxes to ship them in. And mind you it had to be exactly the same way I pictured in my mind. When It comes to stuff like this i´m retarted. I work for one of the largest express companys in the world and I know this buisness inside out. But as fedex are so consistant in the US I called a friend and they were shipped out today. I know the likely hood of them getting lost is minimal. A very small number of boxes get lost in companys like fedex. But i´m still worried about my babys as if they would get lost I would most likely never find pieces like them again. So fingers crossed the get safely from Iceland to the US :thumb:
Best of luck Siggi, I'm sure they will be just fine. No your not retarted, LOL. A lot of us would do the very same thing. My fingers and toes are crossed, keep us posted!
I wish you luck with your submission ,,,I'm sure everything will be just fine. I never had a problem before,,,matter of fact I just got my 5 coin submission back today,,,very happy with the results.
Good luck Siggi, although I don't think you'll need it. Fedex is very reliable so I wouldn't anticipate any problems. Make sure you post them when they come back. Bruce
Good news May 16, 2011 3:20 PM Picked up in Iceland May 17, 2011 10:51 AM Delivered And confirmed by ncs
NICE. I'm sure that's a huge weight lifted off your shoulders. Now you can sit back in comfort for a few weeks.
Thanks everyone, As I am like everyone coin collection I cant wait to get some resaults. But I know the turnaround time so I have prepered for the upcoming weeks. I´ll just take on doing puzzles hehe
Well the good news is that when submitting to NCS first and after they work on your coin ,,,,,about a week,, they send the coin to NGC were it usally only takes a week or so for them to grade them,,,,,,so dont get one of those 10,000 piece puzzels,,,,,lol
I am glad everything seems to be going OK with your shipment, Siggi. Hope they make it back soon. I understand why you are worried - I would be worried too if I were to ship my coins from Germany to the U.S. Fortunately I have no plans to do this, as I don't plan to have my coins encapsulated. I understand that PCGS are now set-up in Paris though, so I MAY just go that route one day with some of my better US coins.
I don't know if this might make your peace of mind worse, but remember FedEx does not insure coins, either as cash or as collectibles. They disappear all you get from FedEx is a "Sorry about that." (And if you did buy insurance they will return the insurance fee.)
That I knew, I have insurance with another company and they pay regardless of the policy of fedex But even with the insurance the catalog prices are way off when it comes to these coins I shipped. I know the risk made the best adjustments and took the risk. So if they would get lost it was something I am prepeared to handle but would never like to exsperiance....
OK that's great. It's just that a lot of people do make the mistake of shipping by FedEx thinking their coins are safe and then when somethng goes wrong learn to their horror that they are NOT covered. I have a piece in my collection where someone learned the lesson the hard way. It's a 1793 Chain cent in VG - Fthat was worth seven to eight thousand dollars. It got shipped to a buyer by FedEx and got stuck in the equipment with a conveyor belt running past the package. The belt ground through the package and started grinding away the obverse from 12 to 3:00. It's now a $900 coin instead of an $8000 coin and FedEx denied the insurance claim because they don't insure coins, says so right on the forms. The seller had to eat the loss.
Well look at it this way Siggi, if they are here, they are halfway home . Thanks for the update my friend!
