I didn't realize that Texas had annexed the east coast. Sorry!

I should have worded my statement more carefully.

In the 70's, chains like A&P, Safeway and Kroger couldn't compete with Giant Food in the MD/NoVA/DC markets, so they pulled out. I don't know who is dominant in those areas now since I haven't lived there in so long, but I doubt that those chains ever returned. In Florida, chains like Winn Dixie, Kroger, Kash & Karry and Food Lion couldn't compete with Publix so they pulled out. SweetBay has a presence in some areas of Florida, but what makes Publix so strong is that it is an employee-owned corporation.

I broke open a US Mint Uncirculated Set to fill my Presidential Dollar Album. I have 2 nice uncirculated native dollars P & D if you are interested. Just PM and I will send them to you for free. Tough collecting on a student budget.

On a student budget, I'd tell you to keep those two dollars and spend them. You probably need them more than most folks here.

Ever since I have begun collecting the native american series, I have gone to several banks asking for any "loose" dollar coins they have. I always received presidential dollars, sacagawea dollars from 2000 or 2001, and on a rare occasion an SBA. I had almost given up asking at banks; however, today I received one 2009 P native american dollar!! This was exciting! Apparently, they are out there just not in very large quantities. Thanks everyone for the replies and encouragement and an extra big thank you to DA FLYER who graciously helped "jumpstart" my collection with the 2011 P and D native american dollars!!

Just got a 2010 Native American Dollar at the bank today. Since financial institutions can't order the native american dollars, I have to wait for a customer to bring them in.

I stupidly (or so I thought at the moment) had to use a $20 at the toll booth machine. I got 18 dollar coins back. I would try that!
