PCGS can't count

Or, "why I won't use PCGS anymore" part 2. PCGS received my order 3-28-10. It should be 30 business days today going by my calendar. These are fairly common coins, nothing you would need to bring in a specialist for. Not only is my order not done, and not only did they not even offer to find out what was going on, but PCGS told me that 30 business days is THURSDAY not today, that today is only the 27th business day! The attitude was like, why am I bothering them already. I can take waiting until the last day, I expected it. But to tell me we don't even read a calendar the same way and that 33 business days is really 30 is ridiculous. What, did they take off cinco de mayo, Easter monday and good friday? Add this to the problems with sending the order in and I don't care if there is a PCGS premium, I'm sticking with NGC, much easier to send coins in and that act like they give a rats arse about you.

They re-write reality everyday to fit them. From all the stories I heard from PCGS, I most likely will never use them.

Problem is they are correct. You do not count the 28th. Day 1 is the 29th. March 31 is a holiday in California (Cesar Chavez Day) and does not count. April 22nd was Good Friday. Very likely Easter was celebrated on the 24th per their calendar.

I didn't count the 28th, I started on the 29th. Seriously? Cesar Chavez day? You think PCGS was closed on Cesar Chavez day? If it isn't a federal holiday it is a business day. Their website doesn't say "California Business days" Good Friday isn't a federal holiday either, here are the 2011 federal holidays.

Some places will take holiday's off as much as possible. It doesn't matter if it's federal or not, they just want their time off.

OK, so when I called on the 28th why did they tell me it was only the 23rd business day, which would make today the 30th? That's long after the great Cesar Chavez day and Easter Monday. Let's see someone justify that.

    *shrugs* must be a mystery.

Maybe the specific customer service rep made a mistake about the days. Perhaps if you tried calling again, and get a different person, they can help you. Just politely explain what happened. Ask how they count their business days.

So the rep that counts the days like a normal person would had to be wrong, but the guy today had to be right? Does anyone know for a FACT that they were closed on Chavez day and Good Friday? I guess it doesn't matter in the end, they are apparently going to do whatever they want. I guess when I call Thursday and they make up some more dates there will be plenty of people rushing in to say why their third version of how many business days there were is correct. I just wanted people to know about my experience.

Were there major shows that hey attended during that period? It used to be that they didn't count days they were at shows (Fridays) and often the day before the show as well because it was a traveling day. Those show days would aften through the "business days" calendar way off.

Even though I no longer submit to PCGS, I never had a problem. As a matter of fact, my submissions from Florida usually got back in fewer days than the projected turnaround. Maybe they don't like people who complain, so they decide to take a little longer.

I used to do this when people would complain about their stuff coming back from PSP at Best Buy. It would sit in the back for a couple days longer if they annoyed me enough.

Or how about this, instead of trying to figure out a way to make PCGS right by pure speculation we agree that they should do what they say they would do on their website or at very least if they are going to take chavez day, boxing day, queen victoria day, roshashana, yom kippur, elvis' birthday or any other low level holiday away from their count on business days they post that on their website or at least send a courtesy email saying sorry we are running a little behind instead of acting indignant that I would dare to call them about what the status of an order is before their "shifting narratives" on what constitutes 30 business days is. If I can get an email and a tracking number and an delivery day from Joe Podunk in hogsquallor Mississippi for something I bought on ebay I ought to be able to get a straight answer and some real dates from a million dollar service oriented organization.

So what does that have to do with the situation where it is already late before a phone call was even made?

See! Not everyone believes the customer is always right.

I may be wrong, but I have a right to be wrong whenever I want!

Who believes the customer is always right? I don't. I knew people would come out to defend PCGS no matter what they did, but even I am surprised at the level some will go to. First they make assumptions about the starting day I used which was wrong, then they try to imagine any sort of holiday or coin show they can to give them as much as they can, then they ignore the fact that even PCGS can't justify their days because they gave me 2 different counts on two different times, then it has to be that they are holding it because I complained even though they have no idea what was said to PCGS at all. Seriously, OK nice troll, has to be a troll, no one is that out of touch with reality.

I'm sorry you're having a bad experience with PCGS, but honestly, what do you want us to do about it?

PCGS doesn't guarantee the turn around time, so I guess they don't have to justify any calendar they use.

I didn't ask anyone to do anything. I am just sharing my experience with fellow collectors.
