Winged, try Adorama.com. You'll see over a dozen copy stands at a wide range of prices. I use Adorama RS-CS1070 Deluxe Copy Stand with 42" Column & 24" x 24" Baseboard @169.95 and RS-C150 Copy Light Set, Two Copy Lights with Adjustable Arms @ #$74.95 both include shipping. Not the cheapest nor the most expensive, I've found it easily adjustable and very sturdy, which is what you need.

I would never shoot a toned coin in sunlight and I would only used diffused light when shoting toned proofs....never MS coins no mater how much luster they have. I never use anything but GE reveal bulbs when I image and I would suspect the reason the seller was able to acheive the overall look in the image you posted above would be a combination of better lighting, better technique and a bump in the contrast and saturation.

If you are patient on the copystand you can find great deals....

Is there a coin up? I bought one today I would not mind thoughts on.

    OK here goes...

Picked this one up today, paid the price on the sticker as I am not into negotiating. I like the pattern, coin is in a NGC 64 holder. Not a monster but cool, and unusual to have a "end roll" look on both sides. I assume it was in tissue or something. So let me know if you like the color and throw some prices out there.

That's a very interesting coin! It does look like an end of roll pattern but it's on 2 sides! Maybe someone took the coin out of the roll and flipped it at some point (perhaps trying to hide the toning). I think 50+ years ago most people didnt like toned coins ... everyone was all into BU (Brilliant Uncirculated).

I think you might get a premium for 2-sided color with this ... I will guess $215.

Interesting pattern; I'd like to see it in hand. $165, threading the needle.

Shane won by default......the coin was priced at $95 at a local show.

That's essentially no premium at all for the tone. The toning's not going to appeal to everyone, but it's interesting and I'm surprised it didn't drive a little bit of premium.

Not that long ago. In the late 70's/early 80's most coins like that would have been dipped. I never liked the process since I always preferred original coins, but it happened.

Nice original coin, original surfaces. They aren't making any more of them! :)
