Very nice 1931-D ! Besides the wood grain there is some purple/blue toning going on also.

I'll bet that 32-D is at least a 66. Great color. If I had that in hand I would probably call it a 67.;)

That's a great story. I'm glad it worked out in the end.

I've found, with regard to the TPG's guarantees, if you hold your ground you eventually get a fair deal. Good for you, rim, for your persistence.

You're right, of course, about the '31-D. I've been waiting a few years for a nice, full RD. They're in strong hands and hard to come by. Until then, I'll keep what I have.

    Here's a '24-D with a bit of wood. Another tough year/MM.

Yeah, I found NGC at least one of the easiest companies to work with - if not the easiest.

BTW, I am not rIm like you are not Ike. There is something about the small i that looks like an l (L).

Well shoot, rlm, you can call me Ike if you like. All this lower "l", lower "i" stuff is too confusing. But I'll try not to forget.

Last woody. I sold this last year. Got it in a trade and didn't need it. I'm kind of sorry I sold it. PCGS AU55.

Not the most dramatic I have seen, but 14-S's are tough and that one is nice. To top it off, PCGS did not knock it because it is s woody.

I would have been sorry too. That 14-s shows big globules of what? pure copper?

My guess would be the other way around. Copper is the reactive one. Brass would probably be less reactive. Maybe Thad could analyze it.

Now that I am out of Fort Worth and passed my colonoscopy (you can read that any way you want), here are a couple I picked in Fort Worth

    That 24 D is NICE !!

RLM, did you ever get a 31-D in full red ? I pain through the nose for mine off of TT, but it was a red toner in pgcs plastic so I jumped on it.

    Nice woodies all. !

That is a rough one to get and a nice one!

I got the one NGC tried to tell me was 65 red, but it now says 65 RB (+$450). For my $190 ish investment, I think I did fine.

You did do well,,, I have more 31d's in my slabbed cent set than any other date, and definitely paid more than 190 for the 65rb. I see those go for over twice that all the time, you got yours at a very nice discount and will do well.
