Canal Bank - The reverse should look familiar if you have seen the other recent obsolete I picked up. I thought it would be neat to see the same vignette used on both the obv and rev and in different colors. Both of these notes were bought from the same seller (J.A. Haxby) He (sanddollar4) is currently selling some notes on the Bay and now I am fortunate enough to have two from him. Here is his description and his pictures: Uncirculated condition. Haxby LA-105-G12a, a remainder that is NOT cut cancelled. By Toppan, Carpenter & Co. and a beautiful piece of work for the period. Has a neat central vignette with five women around a large numeral 5 and fine portraits of Washington & Lafayette at the ends surrounded by lovely medallion-engraved designs. But best of all is the red-brown back, one of the finest I've seen in the entire U.S. obsolete series. Best Regards ~ Darryl
Those Canal notes are beautiful Darryl. I've looked at examples a number of times, but I need to stick to my "game plan" of only concentrating on New Jersey issues. The reverse of this is the same as the Egg Harbor "V" if I'm not mistaken. What a great pickup, especially since it's one of Haxby's notes. Congrats Darryl. Bruce
