Oh Rope.... I am sooooooo jealous. I have been trying to get a decent Reb fiver for months now !!!! And Semper Fidelis where did you wrangle up that interesting Cuban note ??? Pretty neat.

 

Picked up on Ebay from a local seller here in Tampa. It looks much nicer in hand.

 

Makes sense Florida is only a stones throw from Cuba. Perhaps an old "Rough Rider" bought it back from the War. I know the Rough Riders left from Tampa to go fight in Cuba. Perhaps they returned the same way??

 

I actually spent time down in Cuba (Guantanamo) around 1992 when I was in the marines - very interesting time. My wife was born and raised in Santiago de Cuba which isn't too far away from there.

 

Is the Plata the same as Specimen notes here?
