You said you got it at the laundry-mat right. It was probably washed and dried in the commercial grade Washers and dryers.

I don't know why anyone would make a fake 1982 quarter. Unless they want free laundry.

Any coin that can be counterfeited for less than its face value is profitable. Francis LeRoy Henning very famous counterfeited nickels in the 1950s.

I've never seen a fake '82 quarter.. at first I thought it was just heavily plated, but after zooming in, everything appears wrong with this coin. "In God We Trust" doesn't look right either and the reverse is a mess.

Looks like somebody machined the quarter to use as a shim.

100% fake. Nothing is right on this coin - Washington, eagle, etc.

The chances someone would counterfeit a clad, modern quarter are extremely highly unlikely.

You would think not. But judging from the pics, looks like somebody did!

I disagree with this statement. Someone will counterfeit one if they can make a profit...just like Henning did with nickels. This coin has a lot of features that an authentic quarter doesn't have. It looks wrong all over. I think this is a clear counterfeit.

For sure. Mintmark is way too big, the eagle is too pointy and those aren't even arrows in it's talons. Washington looks like a bad drawing. It almost looks like someone took a potrait of Washington and melted it a little and then stamped the finished product on this coin.

I don't know who would do that, but it's all wrong, no doubt about it.

15 to 20 years ago there was a group in the northeast that paid for small transactions, lunch, coffee etc using rolls of counterfeit quarters, perhaps this from that group. I don't recall what date was on the quarters they used.

Wow - look at those wings on the eagle. I mean, look nothing like the wings on a real quarter, especially those indentations toward the bottom of each wing!

From the looks of those pictures, looks like the eagle lost some weight.

Since this coin is magnetic and thus is probably made of steel, it contains what, maybe 2 cents worth of metal in it? Another "fine" product from Chinese Counterfeits, Inc.?

Nope... they wouldn't make a product that inferior...
