http://cgi.ebay.com/1926-S-OREGON-T...06?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item19c2f6d062 ...I just thought I'd share this beauty with the CoinTalk community while I can. Hope You Enjoyed, Brian
What an amazing toner! That is a very appropriate title! If you had said the Oregon was raw and wondered if it would be graded, I would have said no. Its colors are far too spectacular and there's no way PCGS would holder it. Not today, anyway. But it was recently graded by PCGS. And plussed! I'm very, very impressed! So, Brian...how much do you want for it? C'mon. What is the offer you can't refuse? LOL. You know the baby needs new shoes (and a stroller and a crib and a 401k). Lance.
Hahaha! If you would really like to purchase this coin that much, it is listed on Ebay (I included a link to the auction under the photos I included in the original thread)! I don't own this coin. Are you crazy?! I feel weird paying over $1000 for a single coin. I just thought it'd be a nice coin to show to everyone. It's listed for $1575.00 (Which I feel isn't a bad price), but the seller is allowing you to make an offer. If you do infact end up purchasing it, please notify me! Good Luck, Brian
Yeah, wouldn't really be surprised. I am sure NGC has missed so many great opportunities due to their strict toned coin grading and certification standards. Luckly PCGS is smart enough to know when a great opportunity, for example; this beautiful Oregon Trail Commem., is handed to them. It's not like I am trying to bash NGC's standards or anything, it's just my personal opinion. Brian
What a pretty coin. What an odd toning pattern for an Oregon. Anyone recognize the seller? "This is one of the finest toned Oregon Trails I've seen in a long, long time..." When you've only seen one, that's probably true. When you've been collecting and selling coins for a year and a half, that's probably true. Disingenuous, but true. Par for the course for this idiot. IMO, of course.
I like the new 3-legger on BNB's eBay much better than the Oregon... saw it in hand at the Heritage ANA lot viewing in Sacramento and it was just as pretty in hand as the photos show it. Definitely an improvement over BNB's previous 3-legger!!!
Actually, BNB has some pretty nice (and pricey) stuff for sale... quite an improvement over the "old" days...
Well it looks like someone was willing to pay his asking price because even with the 11 offers submitted by interested buyers, he declined all of them, and eventually somebody did may the outrageous "Buy-It-Now" price of $1575.00...but it is a very nice coin to own and as long as the buyer is happy I suppose. -Brian
FYI, BNB didn't sell the coin at his Buy It Now price of $1575. It appears BNB simply ended the listing. If a sale was done through eBay, you'd see it come up in the eBay completed listings with a price in green instead of a price in red.
Interesting. I have always seen completed auctions with the same labels as this one has. Maybe he got an outside buyer...? Either way, he probably sold the coin so it was taken off of the Ebay site. -Brian
