High school experiment: http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to-turn-penny-into-gold-with-common-chemicals-272618/
wow the stuff you can do with a penny. it will look cool in my book anyway. thank you. i wounder if the teacher can be charged with tanpering with US coins like that. jk. but it is a neat trick.
I would bet the science experiment also as it isn't a date within the brass plated memorial cent group. If you aren't aware of these, you might check this http://koinpro.tripod.com/Brass.htm] as you may someday find one and assume it is just a science experiment also. Jim
Ripoff. They're only "brass plated" because the copper bath the zinc planchets are dipped in slowly turns into brass as planchets get lost in the dip. There's a reason ANACS, PCGS, NGC, ICG, etc. don't certify these.
Anybody know about a 2008 gold looking penny that sticks to a magnetic. I have one and can't seem to find anything on it.
@Chazman Just for future reference, it is preferable to start a new thread to ask whatever questions you may have than to bump an old one. You're also likely to attract more attention by doing so and is a win-win for all. That said, this has been discussed many times here, so searching old threads may be of some help to you as well. Welcome to the forum, sir.
