I currently have 3 1924-D Lincoln's in my collection...and I don't need 3. Two of them are raw and one is slabbed by PCGS as VF25. I'm going to post my other 2 raw examples and see what you think their grades are...then I have a question. I don't have a photo of my PCGS coin and its back home in my safe so I won't have a photo soon. It's average for its grade. Anyway, here is Coin #1: Coin #2: Now for the question. Based on your grades for these 2 coins and a PCGS VF25...what do you think I could sell all of them for (individually)? Then, turn around and reinvest that money into a single PCGS/NGC 1924-D as an upgrade. My personal feeling is these 2 coins are F and VF, so I have an F, VF and slabbed VF25. So, my question really is...what would these 3 coins upgrade to for a single slabbed example? Also, do you think upgrading is worth doing?
Coin #1 I want to say F-12 ish. Coin #2 I would say in the range of F-15 to VF-20. I like that date, it's a better date without spending hundreds. I got mine raw in VF-20 for $40. I would sell them both, and buy a high graded one, and if you wanted to, you could sell your PCGS VF-25 for some extra money or a down payment on a MS example.
The 24-D is noted for it weak strike and these are not exception. #1. Weak obverse. I would guess 25 or 30 based mostly based on the reverse. #2. Better struck coin, but it has problems. 35 and might even get a 40, but I would guess a net of about 15 due to the rim. forehead and what looks to be corrosion.

Huh? I am saying something like $33, $37, & $40 with the $40 being the PCGS. Now that is you playing dealer. If you are going to sell to a dealer, I think you would be lucky to top $70.
The '24-D is far tougher than most think. I have been looking to upgrade a 64RB for five years and haven't found the right one. Your PCGS-graded VF25 is worth $75, maybe more depending on eye appeal. The others might bring $50-75, total. In line with other good advice here. What will that bring you? Maybe an XF40, probably not drastically better than than your VF25. I like coin #1 better than #2, which appears to have some verdigris and possibly some corrosion problems. It has better details for sure. But corrosion is a killer. What are your goals? Do you just want a better '24-D? Or are you thinking of building a set? If the latter, I would stick with coin #1 and use it as the yardstick for other tough, early Lincolns. Mint-marked late teens and early/mid '20s are very challenging. There's a lot of dreck out there and it will take patience and a good eye to find decent F/VF examples. Lance. Lance.
#1 F12 CDN $45 #2 VF-35/EF40 CDN ~$50 PCGS not sure, probably $80 You should be able to get at least $150 for the three. I'd think you could pick up a nice AU coin for that. GOOD LUCK
