You must be pretty good at alienating tellers.
They're probably messing with you... at least that's what I'd be inclined to think.

Searched my first box of halves. Got 2 for my collection, other than that skunk on silver.

Still hoping to find some NIFC coins one day.

I'm new to roll searching and had a question. While searching through the rolls i obvioulsy check for silver, key dates, and mint errors as listed in redbook. But do you look at everycoin individually and check for errors not listed in redbook? Also, how do you know if a penny is a "red" example?

Some of us just pull wheaties and silver.

Some of us look at every coin, chasing mint errors.

Some of us do all of the above, and also separate copper from zinc.

Do what you want... just so you have fun.

It all comes down to what you are looking to find. When I search cents I don't look for all the cherrypicker errors like Re-Punched Mint Marks, D over S, etc. Some say I probably should. I look for wheats, double-dies, common error coins, anything odd, and I also sort out any mint-state coins and other BU coins. Red is the designator for the color of a mint-state coin that still has the luster of the mint and has not started to brown. Grab a 2010 penny from your pocket, that's red. Now look at the cruddy 1978 penny that is the color of a brown paper bag...that's brown. Red/Brown is the inbetween state of the two. MS-Red indicates a mint state coin that has the "original" color still. MS BN is a mint-state coin that has turned brown (likely due to environment exposure).

Good luck and have fun. Everybody seems to be looking for something different, but the fun part is looking! I told a non-collector last week why I like searching rolls. Its like buying instant lottery tickets. Most times you don't win, sometimes you do, but with coins either way you don't lose any money!

I search mostly for silver, but I pull all foreign coins and I also pull any BU's of older dates. I've several rolls of BU nickels going as far back as '48. I'll also pull Buffs and whatnot, obviously.

    For cents, I save all copper, pull wheats and foreigns, the rare indian head cent, and then these;

    '69-S DDO
'72 DDO's (Several are quite noticeable from looking at the IGWT)
    '84 DDO (Doubled Ear)
    '92 CAM
    '92-D CAM
    '95 DDO
    '98 WAM
    '99 WAM
    '00 WAM

I'll add a new error coin to search for maybe once every couple months. Nothing that will slow me down majorly, IE; '88 RDV-006.

Well Chase Bank opens in about 45 minutes, and I need some help here, I want to order a box of halves. What do I do? Do I see the teller, do I sit and wait for a banker to go to a cubicle? How do I go about getting a box, and how long will it take them to get one in if I order?

Just go talk to the teller. They can usually take care of it from there.

If you have an account at Chase, you can probably call the order in over the phone. Ask for (and get to know) the head teller and they can place the order. When you get it all depends on when they receive their orders and when they place them. Some banks get shipments twice a week so you may be able to get it before the end of the week.

Now, CAM vs WAM...when I "think" I find one, how can I really tell? To me, they may seem CAM or WAM, but does the Redbook really explain it? (its at home at the moment, and I haven't memorized it yet).

    Thanks all!

Asked the teller for 5 rolls of dimes that customers have cashed in. She comes out with 5 clear shrink-wrapped supplier rolls of dimes and says "and you also want some dime wrappers right?" After I explain to her what I meant she comes back with 5 rolls, 4 of which had similar wrappers and the one pictured below which was a full roll of silver Rosie's. Needless to say I am going to try to buy all of their CWR's this week.

Here's hoping you find not just Silver Roosevelts, but a good number of Mercs, and maybe even some Barbers.
