Thanks for the heads up, we're actually looking at buying a new place possibly this summer. May need to shut down some of my accounts.

On the message the problem was between the chair and the keyboard. I found it and sent one back to you.

GREAT FIND ! And something with an established value ! There are enough of them around that the worth is known. You can contact Brad Meadows, senior numismatist at the Heritage Auction in Dallas, TX and he can help you select an auction if you wish to sell it.

    Good luck on yours.

Those are the worst, I deal with several every day from customers.

    Walked into a bank, handed teller $6, teller handed me a '45-D half, 2 '64's, 7 40%'ers, an '81-S Proof, and a '71.

Also did a box of dimes, 1 silver there.

VERY nice Merc!!! I found about 5 bucks in loose halves today and skunked again. Still no silver halves for the week. I did find the two silver Roosies, but all in all, a slow week for me. There is so much competition now. Many banks say how a bunch of others are asking for halves as well....

Thanks guys, and yeah, I'm hearing the same from the tellers I see... but they know me because I've been doing the same loops for months now, so they said they will try to keep some aside for me no matter what.

Picked up a bag of nickels ($200) and two bags of cents ($50)... the cents I'll do over the weekend and whatnot, the nickels I just wrapped up.

Weird things you find in bags... 3 dimes, 2 canadian cents, 4 canadian nickels, 8 copper cents, 3 zinc cents... A double-clipped planchet, almost 5 rolls of pre-55 nickels (There was a crapton), 1 very worn buffy, and 7 war nickels.

Also, had a bank order me a box of halves today, the manager told me the box should be $800. Anybody know what supplier does that?

    Maybe that's including a "service fee" ?

Nah, they don't charge, they're a small, local credit union. I think she just has the number off... but at any rate, the 400 I got from them a couple weeks back was awesome, so I'm hoping for more of the same.

Second dry week in a row. :( The bank where somebody had been dumping silver halves had no halves at all, and neither did the two other banks I tried.

Do most banks stock bags? Or do you order them?
I wouldn't mind getting a bag of coin, but I've only found boxes.

Got 832 copper cents out of the last box ! These were NF String rolled, so I didn't expect too much, but the copper was almost enough to finish another box to store. I still need to go through them for errors and such, but that's 1500+ just in the last 2 boxes !

    From Roll searching halves-

Ok, I hit probably my last milestone in this hobby. The last few hundred took FOREVER as it is so dead now and so many searchers. I hardly do any searching anymore as gas and time are not really worth it with dozens of searchers in my area.

Anyway just wanted to post. Started July 2009 so almost 22 months. Just passed the 3K mark.

    7 Commemoratives Halves (1927, 1952, 1952, 1986, 1986, 1986, can't find one)
    63 Walkers
    192 Franklins
    400 1964's
    2368 40%'ers
    216 "Proof" halves

3030 Total Silver Halves. Found at face value so cost of $1515. Silver value today...over 25k.

Now, I have sold chunks along the way as well as bartered for home improvements, Christmas gifts and two safes at my grandparents (too many kids around my house to keep them at home lol) so I did not get full "today" value.

But even still, not a bad return on my investment lol.

As mentioned, I don't think I will see any more milestones so just wanted to share the stat. Happy but at the same time, WHY DIDN"T I START TEN YEARS AGO!!!!!!

    Erin
