I came across a 1929 S Wheat that appears to have an error in the word CENT. The bottom of the C is curved up and appears as a G instead of a C. I will try and post pictures when I get a chance. Anyone hear of this before?
Welcome to Coin Talk! Post a pic here first. Might be just a die chip or damage and you'll save yourself a few bucks.
I'm going to say it's damage that occurred early in it's lifetime and was just worn smooth. There's damage on the "E" of United as well. How the the obverse look?
Yep, that's damage. No value, not worth getting graded in a million years. Why would anybody even think to send that in to get slabbed unless it was a known rare and desirable variety or something?
Damage. The obverse has a few dings as well. But, thanks for posting it..... you never know when you'll find something exciting!
Merc Crazy why be so harsh on him or her? maybe they are a new collector just trying to get interested in error coins. Did you know everything the day you first got interested in errors ? Let's not try to discourage anyone , we need more collectors in our hobby. Ooops sorry Merc Crazy. I didn't notice you was replying to someone else.
No no no no. Grading a coin like this is just burning your money. The best thing he could have done was to come here as this is a easy PMD to spot If you cant find anyone " forums, dealers, book the internet ect " who has a clue then you might want to think about sending it to tpg By the this is a PMD, If you think it trough with logic if a die was made by mistake with a G instead of C the famous G cent would have surfaced decates ago
Ok Chris let's make this the offical take it out on poor old Rascal day. LMBO I woul tell you all actually what the OP has here but you all are so bright I'm sure you can figure it out in less than a month by yourselfs. If you can't then I may or may not tell you. LOL
I have a1929S that has something going on at that same E, the middle bar is more towards the top and hardly seen. Also, think of the two wheats more towards the center, raised areas on both sides, almost smoothing out the lettering. Email removed to prevent spam~ use PM ( conversations)
