I'm sitt'n on forty (40) of these bad boys (final Satins, first ATBs)...we can only hope! hya: EDIT: I got a bunch of the Unc sets also...no Satins in the Proof sets. It would be sweet if the Unc sets had an early sell-out, also!
If we get an early sell out, that could be $1,000! You could parlay that into a set of ATB 5 Ouncers. :thumb:
2011 United States Mint Silver Proof Set™ (SV4) Price: $67.95 This product is temporarily unavailable.
I am glad my order went in at 6am EST this morning! I heard some rumblings over the weekend that a price hike was imminent. TC
I dont know if has been mentioned already, but the 2010 silver proof set is also currently unavailable.
Fortunate for me, I purchased a couple of these sets early enough so as to not be shut out or incur any additional increases. It will be interesting to see if the mint does indeed raise to price on the 2011 sets again.
Here's an update of 2010 Silver Proof set sales over the past seven (7) weeks... Date..........Total.......Inc/(Dec) Apr 5........560,280......974 Apr 12......561,206.......926 Apr 19......561,472.......266 Apr 26......561,365......(107) May 3.......561,351.......(14) May 10......562,038......687 May 17......562,982......944 It looks like sales have resumed the 1000/month level they had before the suspension. Even so, there are only 32 weeks left in 2011 and the Mint announced that sales of 2010 Silver proof sets will NOT continue beyond 2011. Senario #1: The price of silver continues a slow decline and weekly sales remain soft. Senario #2: The price of silver rises and sales are suspended pending a price increase...sales remain soft. Senario #3: Too few sets were made before the end of 2010 and there's an early sellout. In the scenarios above, final sales numbers for 2010 Silver Proof sets could be less than 600,000! That would make the 2010 Kennedy Silver half dollar and the 2010 Roosevelt Silver dime KEY dates!!! No one (especially me!) can predict the future...but "chances are" that if you are a Kennedy and/or Roosevelt silver collector, you may want to take notice...just say'n.
Frankly, these sets must be on the shelf. They're not supposed to be "minting" outside of the issue year. So how's the '11's doin' in sales Yak?
The 2011's are slowing, but are still selling around 8,000/week. Total sales are just under 400,000 (396,539). That's just it...since the prices for the 2010 and 2011 sets are nearly the same, they will BOTH sell out at the end of 2011, and sales for the 2011 sets are less than the 2010 sets...I think the 2010 sales will continue to be soft. This condition was created when the Mint wanted to shift the sales period from "August to August" to "January to January". Like you say...all the 2010 sets have been minted and are sitting on a shelf. So, here are the FACTS... 1. No more 2010 sets can be minted. 2. All unsold 2010 sets (as of 31 December 2011) will be destroyed. Maybe everyone is saying, "Yakpoo, shut-up already!!" OK...just wanted to spread the word to my CT bretheren. I think this could be an "event".
