So, I have several old Whitman folders from my early coin collecting days. Nothing too valuable in them, just stuff from when I was a kid. I'm in the process of removing all the coins from these folders because I know they can be damaging to the coins because of the glue and the paper backing the coin slots. Anyway, I opened one of the folders for the first times in ages the other day. It is the 1946-64 Roosevelt Dimes folder and it probably contains 10 silver circulated dimes. I was happy to discover that several of them have developed a nice colorful toning. I thought I would share some photos. These coins will be removed from the folder and stored better in the coming days.
I'm in the same boat. My coins in my old Whitman folders have toned, too. Both Roosevelts and Washingtons.
I actually think the toning I got is pretty nice. I've taken them out of the folder at this point...but I like the result. I didn't expect or intend for this to happen, but I'm not complaining.
Good thing you didn't intend for the toning to happen, then it would be AT, not NT as it appears to be. LOL
Very cool Camaro. My kiddie Roosey collection has toned pretty much the same way in its old Whitmans. Glue damage you say ??? I never heard of this, ut-oh !!! Here are my aged kiddie collection.
I honestly disagree with this. I know a lot of people use these albums to help increase the chance a coin will tone...I don't think it's AT. I don't think "intent" has anything to do with album toning being NT vs. AT.
