A fun day today, picked up $60 in halves and only 6 rolls of dimes. The teller said that they were from a collector and there might be some silver them. No silver in the halves, but there were several 2002-2009 P/D's all BU keepers!
The rolls of dimes even though 4 were hand wrapped were the most exciting. I found 24 silver dimes three of them were proofs ill get pics tomorrow
    |I went back to the bank to check to see if there was anything else he turned in, she said he brought in some nickels she also had a roll of dollars.
One roll of nickels was 2002-P another 2008-P one was all pre 1957 found a few 2009P/D one silver nickel 1943-P,a gorgeous toned 1951 ill post some pics of the nice coins tomorrow, way past bedtime.

I started roll searching two weeks ago, and I'm hooked. My two week total so far is.

    35- 40% Halves
    7- 1964 halves
    1 Franklin
1 walker with a hole drilled in it.
    18 silver roosevelts
    1 war nickel.

Its like playing lottery scratch offs but you cant lose. I love it

How much have you been using in cash to get the half dollar results?

I have never Bought a box of halves. My job requires me to drive around about two counties, so i stop at every bank i see. and just buy what rolls they have. 5 -15 rolls if they have any. Then I find a bank to dump at and start all over. I work with 500 dollars in my pocket, but I buy boxes of dime though.

Forty dollar silver has definitely kicked up the competition lately. I got stuck behind another hunter yesterday. Every bank I went into I heard the same thing, someone just came in and asked for half dollars. I finally caught up with the guy down the road buying a box of halves from my dump bank :)

Heard the same thing today, every bank I went into said they've had at least three people in asking for halves. Looks like it's time to bring in bagels or doughnuts to my favorite spots and butter up the tellers.

I hopefully live in an area where not too many people are doing that. I have great connections at a local bank and they actually look at the ends of the rolls and pick the ones that have pre 70' and give me those ones.. I need to find a way to pay them back, maybe some food or something. ha. Hope my luck runs well and I don't ruin my welcome.

I miss the days of finding lots of silver in my boxes...Salt Lake City has been gone over with a fine-toothed comb...

I think the empire is building a new Death Star from silver. I even saw a Storm Trooper at the drive-thru today looking for halves!

    Desert,

If you have connections like that you definitely want to take care of them. I usually bring in a bag or two of Lindt truffles to my favorite spots. Small gestures go a long way in this hobby.

I have a question, I'm going to be trying to get a box of halves from the bank next week. I was wondering, do the coin counting machines count halves or is there some other way I need to dump them?

Yeah they'll count them. The only thing my bank's machine doesn't count is Ikes, not that I'd be dumping any of those in there.
On a related note, I found a 5 Euro-cent and two 1 Euro-cents in the reject tray last time I dumped pennies. It was kind of cool.
