depends on what you mean by "valuable," but the key dates are the 1877 and the 1909-s.

For those of you that are just getting started, I suggest you pick up a copy of the Red Book. I believe the 2012 version comes out in a week or 2. You'd be fine with buying the 2011 version as well. It contains very useful information on US coins such as composition, mintage, values, pictures, coin terminology glossary, etc. You can prob find this book at around $8-$10. It sounds like some of you don't even know what you are roll searching for.

I remember my best roll search finds were : Barber quarter, Liberty nickel,Barber dimes. lots-o-walkers & SLQ's but one must remember that I am older than dirt and this was in the 1950's.

Picked up 12 halves - mostly 1976 - but one 1981-S proof. I commented on it and the teller's response was "What's a proof?".

Box of halves; 1 40% and 1 1992 Olympic commemorative.

Only did three boxes of dimes because of the crappy weather this morning, I slept in...

    Box one; 3, all roosies.
    Box two; 3, all roosies.
    Box three, 1, a roosie.

I also went to TD to cash in, and discovered their coin reject slot was blocked up... to the tune of $65. :D They said as far as they're concerned, it's mine, so we dumped it in and they credited it to me... apparently that machine rejects silver, too, because it spit a beautiful, MS 1957 dime out at me. :D #winning

Nice! I had that happen to me twice in one day at two different TD's...one for around $50 and the other for $25. Have you been having any issues with the machines counting dimes as pennies. This happened to me once and I had to wait for them to send the bags back for counting to get my money back. I think I dumped about $125 in dimes and the total showed around 200 pennies. We looked at the penny bag and whaddya know there were dimes in it. I've been hesitant since then and have switched to nickels. I did 5 rolls of dimes the other day and it counted 4 of them as pennies.

Yeah, it'll do that, I usually lose about $1 per $250 dumped... I consider it a fee, screw it, it's less than 1%, so...

Searched 2 1/2 boxes of halves this week, found the following:

    *3 40% (1966, 1967, 1968)
    *1 1976 Proof
    *4 2002P
    *1 2003D
    *1 2005D
    *4 High-grade Keepers AU or better (1971D, 1976D, 1988P, 2001D)

As an update, confirmed that the 1979S Proof I pulled last week was a Type 2. Score!

And that's the pleasure of pulling a proof from a roll...that moment where you go, "Oooooohhhhhhhhh...."

And then you want to show it to your girlfriend, and she tries to put her thumb right onto the obverse fields...and you cry, like Nancy Kerrigan, and remind yourself never to hand your coins to people who don't collect coins. Of course, you already told her this, 400 times, to only hold a coin by its edges...but in the end, you decide it's not worth it...and then smile quietly to yourself at your find.

No problem Desert. If you see NIFC (Not Intended For Circulation) in regards to halves it's referring to business strikes from 1987 and 2002-present that weren't released for circulation yet somehow find their way into bank rolls. But maybe you already knew this.
