    Good morning all,

I found this half in a box from the bank - and I believe it is a Type 2 mintmark. Just thought I'd ask your opinions.

Until I get my macro lens...unfortunately this is the best/closest shot I can get of the S.

    Thanks!

It looks to be a type II, filled mint mark to me.

    That's a clear S, type II.

    Huzzah.

Thanks for the confirmation, everyone. Always a pleasure.

Very thrilled to have pulled this from roll searching...

Wow, you found this half dollar in rolls? That is way cool. Congratulations on an awesome find!

It helps to offset not finding much silver (so far, in about $10,000, 2 90% and 22 40%) but then again, I've found a few proofs and a 1995 Atlanta baseball commemorative. Also found a few NIFC halves...working on a list of everything found at the moment instead of doing homework.

Now, when you pull a proof 81-S with a Type II mint mark, then you can really celebrate.

I was pretty lucky once. I found 14 of these Type II 1979 S coins in one box of halves. I sold all but a couple of them on ebay and made a nice profit.
