I was going through a few sets from the 50's and 60's and came across this insert from the Mint (The wording of the message varied over the years but this captures it's flavor.) I've kept one set intact just to showcase the spider that was entombed in the Mint emblem compartment.
It gave the mint an out. If you actually did have a coin that was scratched they just say "No, it's just a crease in the plastic." and if you take it out to prove that is is scratched then now it's "It isn't in the holder and you may have scratched it yourself so we aren't responsible."
Can anyone tell if it's a Type 1 or Type 2???? Since it came from the mint I wonder if PCGS would slab it??? "PCGS Genuine, Philadelphia Arachnid"
HEY! There's another two much smaller ones at 3' o clock and at 10' o clock. Looks like it might you have a hatching frenzy goin' on.
Does anyone else foresee a Jurassic Park situation millennia from now...where, instead of amber, scientists are resurrecting species from proof and mint sets? I wonder if those creatures will be toned, and if there will be discussion on whether or not it is better to have a blast white or cartwheeling rainbow toned spider?
