Merc, the boxes of dime from b of a are $500.00, which I guess is unusual.

Got a single 1964 quarter from the gas station today in normal return change! Gave me the oomph to order 2 boxes of halves - off work for the next 10 days, going to try to plow through some boxes!

Oh man. This is depressing. Went through 104 yesterday got 1 - 1967 and a Proof coin.. Today went through 620 halves @ local banks, SKUNK . The best was last week when I went to the bank and they had $6.00 in halves. All 40%'ers

Wow a silver quarter in pocket change is awesome! I have get to be so lucky. Been getting all the halves I can afford. No silver luck yet. Deff inspired by you guys/gals though! Im sure my lack of volume is my downfall.

thanks jeff that page was very informative.

    Did my usual 2 boxes

    Box1: 2 40% and a 90%
    Box 2: 1 90%

Ill take it, I never find any 64's so i will consider this a good day.

The ikes that are silver were from 71-76 but were only 40% and all were NIFC

Visited Cincy, OH last weekend for a wedding. Hit about 5-6 banks outside the city. Got a few Ikes and some clad halves. Had a few "someone came by yesterday and I gave them the halves." A couple of banks have metal detectors in the entrance way and the sneakers I had on had steel toes so they wouldn't let me in!

Most ikes are clad, you can tell a 40% silver ike by looking at the edge, just like a half dollar. Regular ikes have a brown copper layer, a 40% will either look silver all the way through, or have a grayish layer. If you have one you are unsure of, you can weigh it.

In addition, the silver Ikes have S mint marks. If the mintmark is not an S, it is clad.

Sweet, I had a teller offer me a handfull of them, but I wasn't sure if I should take 'em. I'll go back to day and look for that mark (or the silver sides). Maybe I'll score one :) Thanks everyone!
