In comparing pics, looks like mine is a fake. Crown is different and points 2 a letter instead of the dot, hair, earring and necklace is different etc. Unless the one sold was a fake and mine is real:mouth:, wishful thinking.Thanks for the help and any other info is appreciated. I think the one sold at the link GD gave you is a replica. It looks like other replicas I have seen for sale, here is a genuine example: The one GD linked to look like the reproduction being sold here IMO: http://www.austriancoins.com/medalsassorted.html although its a small pic...it looks more like the fake then the authentic example: IMO, your looks like a casting of an original and not a reproduction.
NowI am really confused. What is the difference between a casting and a reproduction? There is no reeded edge and the fields are rough and bumpy if that helps. Also, the lettering at the bottom of the rev gets closer to the pillow tassles than the ones pictured and does not say germany before ET Altera.
The bottom two I posted, and I could be wrong, but they appear NOT to be cast from an original...your looks soft, loss of sharpness, rough and bumpy, an imperfect image of the original features, as if its a cast of a cast of a cast (common for these). The middle one is one I know to be a reproduction, by that I meant to say I think someone reproduced it not by casting it directly from an original but by remaking it as closely as possible. These are very common. An original would be roughly 47 mm and almost 63 g. A cast of an original would be about the same size but the weight would vary. The reproductions, not cast from an original are often larger in size. Both are blackish bronze, or blackened bronze coated base metal. The two I posted above are blackened, one was cleaned. The original, as you can see, is not. They and many other coins and medal reproductions are used in things like this...good thing they use a reproduction. I have a bowl that has a very rare coin in it, its a fake but its still a cool little thing I got for cheap. It would be a shame to mess up such a lovely medal.
Mine looks exactly like the bottom, obverse view, that Drussus posted, but like "The Noost", mine does not have the "Germany" on the reverse. Mine measures 45mm but weighs only 38.06 grams. I never thought it to be authentic, but for some reason I've always held on to it. Mine was also in a "collar" of sorts that was hallmarked "Italy". Peace, CH

I have this bowl, too. It is engraved REVERE inside the bowl. Have no idea what it is. Did you ever find anything out about it?
These steel bowls with copies of medals were made c. 1960s or so. Sometimes you'll find them on Ebay with the original packaging.
