Crazy story, Was at walmart today, go to get a coke out of the vending machine, and me being a coin collecor I always look at my change. Well i see this really shiny dime and i look at the date, I was like nahhh that cant be right, rubbed my eyes and looked at it again. Still not beleving this was real i handed it to my friend and asked him, "whats the date on that" He said 1959, so? whats the big deal, I snatched it out of his hand and said oh nothing! Shall we get out of here? Full bands mint state?! Some collector must have been real mad when he accidently put his coin in there to get a 50 cent coke lol. So into a holder and into my box it goes!
I'm not sure what's more amazing - your find, or that you can still get a coke for 50 cents somewhere!
It has full bands, that would be the result in my camera, not even a camera its one of those web cams lol, And yeah it does have brown spots, From taking a closer look it looks to be something like wax
I would have put more change in it and hit the coin return lever to see if more came out of it...but thats just my thinking.
One step ahead of you, had my friend run out to the car and get some bills, sadly the only we got was a sack full of cokes lol.
SCORE! Nice luck Camreno! I would be lucky if I got a '99 in XF My wife is the one that brings home the Mercury's, and Star Notes!!!
Nice find! I thought newer vending machines rejected silver, and if that is the case it is more likely that the dime was in the coin return slot. TC
As blind as I am, I can see that it is a "P". Hold the CTRL key down and hit the Plus (+) key as many times as necessary to enlarge. To return to normal size, hold the CTRL key down and hit the Minus (-) key the same number of times. Chris
Nice little find, one thing is that it's silver, another is that it's in great shape. I have yet to find a silver dime or any silver coin in circulation.
You got me excited thinking it was a error It did look like a p in the first pic heres a closer one tho
