Appreciate any insight. My "Standard Catalog of World Paper Money" has been ordered and is in the mail, but I'm impatient... acing: I have 14 of these, all Unc. Thanks!
rdwarrior, Thanks. I've googled every Southeast Asian country with the word "currency", and hit "images", but to no avail. I thought google was the source for all knowledge -- guess not. Appreciate your help.
ikandiggit, You again? You helped me out the other day with the unsigned Indochina notes. Now this. I owe you! Thanks very much.
As soon as I figure out what all of this stuff is worth! Wouldn't want to put you into a higher tax bracket, now would I?
I would rather have one of these Burma notes. The Burma note is P-21a and catalogues at $350.00 in UNC. That is probably a little low. This is a scarce note which I would put more at $450.00
Here is a neat coin, I do not get to show often. A Burmese 1853 silver Kyat. Burma Shave anyone ?
I appreciate your restraint. After all, I'm just a young, innocent newbie.... NOT. Fast approaching geezerhood. I know I'll be selling some of each of those notes, within the next month or so. Not that I really want to, but I need to fund my acquisitions!
I'm getting there, too. Good luck with your notes, I'm sure you'll do quite well on them. I'm always surprised at some of the amazing items that come to light on this forum.
Wow, close to $450 each for those notes? Nice notes! You have them for a while, or recently acquire them JJD?
Doc, My dad brought them home from Japan. He was in military gov't office there, right after WWII. I started collecting in the late 1960's, and he gave them to me about then. I just stuck them in a lockbox and figured they were like Monopoly money -- who knew? Just broke out the box about a month ago, after not having even opened it for close to 20 years. I have a bunch of the Mickey Mouse money, but also quite a lot of crisp Unc notes like the images attached. Multiples of most of them. This is Fun!
That's a great story JJD. I always think that the story that accompanies notes makes the note even more interesting. It's a good thing that you placed them in that lockbox all those years ago. Thanks for sharing!
I'm so jealous! I have a good collection of Burmese notes, and I've never seen the one you have. http://www.panix.com/~clay/currency/Burma.html
That 1953 P41 you have is a fine looking note! Quite a collection! Burma / Myanmar is an interesting country with a rich history -- good choice!
