Time to change half dollar suppliers, dude.

Box of nickels, 3 war nicks ('43-P, '45-P x2) 2 Canadians, and a roll of pre '60's. Always a quality box of nickels when you have more silvers than Canadians.

    $5 loose at the drive-through teller's station -- 8 40%, 2 clad.

I did ask this time: "is it just one person bringing these in?" It is, but no, they won't pass him my name or number. But they said he'll be bringing in a roll or so every week, and he's got a LOT to go through.

I'll continue to hint that it would be to everyone's advantage if they passed him my contact info -- he gets more money, he deposits more money with the bank, and I get more silver.

I'll be lying awake wondering if there are any other banks nearby where he's dumping halves. For once, I really, really want to find another person's dumps. Getting a few 40%'ers at a time is nice, but I'd really like to get a few more of those rolls with Franklins and 1964's.

    Saint Cloud, Minnesota

I have been having a most difficult time trying to find banks that will order cases of half dollars without charging. I'm in central Minnesota, Saint Cloud specifically. US Bank is the cheapest at $4.50/case. I tried 2 credit unions, Wells Fargo, TCF Bank, Plaza Park Bank, and maybe one or two more that I can't remember. All of them charge more than US Bank.

I would appreciate it if someone in my area, Saint Cloud, Minnesota, who searches coins, knows who might order cases without charging.

I bought three cases so far and only found one 40%. $13.50 is a bit too pricey.

I've enjoyed going through the posts at others success.

    Thanks
    Jason

I searched through $100 in nickels today; $22 in CWR and $78 in bank-wrapped rolls. They yielded the following:

*A '42-S War Nickel (Interestingly, this was from a CWR)
*A whopping 36 early Jeffersons, with the oldest being a 1938 (my third '38 nickel, buffalo or Jefferson, found during a hunt).
*A 20 Centimes piece from Switzerland and a '99 Canadian nickel.

Also, when I was dumping my dimes from a search on March 30, the dime bag at the coin counter had to be removed. After it was sealed, I spotted the back of a Mercury dime. Because the bag was sealed, I was told that they couldn't open it, so I walked away. But it turns out, they opened the bag, searched through the 10,000 dimes that were in there, removed the Merc and saved it for me. I paid them two nickels in exchange for it It turns out it was a 1940, and this is the first Merc I've found in circulation since 2003 (I found a '42 on my middle school's cafeteria floor, in ketchup).

What's even more interesting is that they looked up the statistics for the coin, including melt value, and learned about facts like '16-D being the key date of the series. It would be cool if this incident has welcomed a few more people into the coin-collecting hobby.

Wow, another Minnesotan doing this. That's four I have heard of in the last month. Wells Fargo is usually the best for ordering without charging a fee.

Did a box of Cents tonight.

    17 Wheats, and 8 Canadians.

    Wheatie breakdown:
    1926
    1935
    1936d
    1937
    1946d
    1948
    1953d
    1955dx2
    1956d
    1957dx5
    1958d

And one mystery Wheatie, I will clean it tonight to see what the date is. Got a pile of gunk where the date is. Might try to pick up some Nickels or even Quarters tomorrow.

About $40 in halves today... nothing. One teller had a Franklin in his tray but wouldn't sell it. Also, picked up 22 Ikes.

Wells charges more than US Bank, I think it was 5%. US Bank at $4.50 is the lowest I can find. If I could find some silver it wouldn't be as bad.

I HATE that. If you are not going to sell it, DON'T have it in your tray!!!! That is like a waitress bringing you the dessert tray, letting you see it, then when you order it, saying they don't have any. Arrrggggg!

It's not. I have some German coins with mintmarks, I've seen old Spanish coins with mintmarks. The newer Canadians have marks, but I think that means they're clad steel or something. Probably many more.

It's German/Austrian. Babblefish translates as "Austrian scheidemunze kk" which obviously isn't completely correct. I think the A mintmark is Berlin, though.
