I just came across this new series from Italy. Has anyone seen the actual coin yet? It is a real work of art IMO. It will be interesting to see how the series progresses. Here is the link: http://rsmint.com/2010italy5eurosilverproofcoinsantachiara.aspx
Here is a photo (from a German dealer) of the actual coin, with box and certificate: http://www.honscha.de/bilder/5it102.jpg All Italian collector coins from last year are listed here: http://www.ipzs.it/news/coins10/pdf/catalogo.pdf You may like the Aquileia €10 piece from the same series too ... Thanks for posting Christian. I am luke warm on the Italian piece, I expect more from them. It reminds me of a post Battista Cuban piece. Lemme see if I can dig it out of my collection. See the similarities ???
Yes, and I actually like it when buildings are depicted "differently". In many cases a full frontal view, or maybe an aerial view, is shown on a coin - on these two pieces a different perspective is used. Then again, I do like the Aquileia coin that I mentioned better than the Naples (Sta. Chiara) pieces. Unfortunately it is also quite a bit more expensive. Ahhh that one is much better, Christian. I like it, but the building looks like its part of an old "Pac-man" game board.
Basically it is possible. Whether the mint ships to the US ... dunno, but even if they do, it may be a little expensive.
