Is that in a plastic holder? It could just be a reflection.

It is in a plastic holder but the cover is off for these shots. What you see is the raw coin.

The details in your photo are too "washed out" for me to tell. Sorry!

Well, if that is the case, it is indeed an RPM. You can clearly tell by the split serifs. I don't have my Cherrypicker's Guide with me right now, so I'm not sure which variety it would be. It seems to be a 1964 D/D/D West.

    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

I am the furthest from expert that you can find, and I am more than likely wrong, but it looks like D/D to me. I'm sure someone with more knowledge than I will tell you better.

When you get a chance, can you please check out your guide and let me know.

    Thanks

It isn't listed in the CPG. The only one there is an RPM to the east. CONECA doesn't have a listing for it either.

I agree with Chris. My first inclination is not, but hard to tell with the photo. Best of luck.

After seeing your microscope photos...it looks like MDD to me.

The microscope photos make me say MMD also. Notice the "shearing effects" on the left side of the mm. As the die retracted, it was "jerked to the right a certain amount and then continued upward. The "jerking" movement produced what looks like the bottom mm, and the upward motion what looks like the overlying mm. IMO.

But, looking at the first picture, I don't see MD on any other devices.

    Thanks Jim,
If I was an exert I wouldn't need to ask and that is what makes forums so informative. Not sure what people did 25 years ago.

That bottom step is definitely dragged and the second step is relatively flat except for the serifs, even on the bottom step you can see that they are a little raised. I would not think that would happen with mdd. Because I am no expert I would rather hear opinions one way or the other.

Hey, I have one what looks almost identical to me. I was told it was a triple MDD. Strange though that we now have 2 of them ? I need to find the scans or pull the coin out of file and get some pics of it, but seriously, I am wondering if it's possible we have a "variety" ?
