I love them, but do the low mintages and so on matter? when it comes right down to it, they don't seem to be worth much over melt. unless I'm mistaken
True, I have a collection of Libertads, and would keep them over ASE for sheer beauty. Not many collect them by years. Jim
I have a collection of Libertads too. In terms of numismatic value that may depend on the individual collector but in general I agree with desertgem. I love the beauty of the design. I also have an ASE collection and I don't know if I could choose one over the other. The Walking Liberty design is a classic. The Libertad has a great design on the reverse that includes all the eagles used by the Mexican government.
Yep Frydaddy, 19th century Libertads are special. They were the trade coin of the world, thus all the chopmarks. Common Libertads seem to price like common Morgans or Peace dollars around 20% over melt. Rarity & condition usually bring in more $$$$. :hail:
be my guest. I have about 100 mexican coins so far, all silver. love them and want to learn more. and own more.
Got to love the older silver pesos , the design is classic . Does anyone have a good link for Mexican coins ? rzage
Well Frydaddy, I do have 2 nice 18th century Spanish gold pieces, but they were minted in Madrid. I do have these 2 bullion Mexican golds....:hail: How about you Frydaddy...Where's the geld ????
NO Mexican gold yet, but i have 2 special Gold Irish coins to pick up Saturday that I can guarantee you've never seen. will post !
I hope they are pretty. The Irish are known for thier dreary coinage. :thumb: The Republics coinage always reminded me of "Old McDonalds Farm" with a cluck cluck here and an oink oink there, here an oink, there an oink, everywhere an oink oink...E I E I O.....:dead-horse:
Burrrrrrrr Antartica....I did not know Shackelton was a Paddy.... I guess hailing from Eire, Mcmurdo would be a vacation....
well, what do you know a Kerryman. Two of my grandparents were from Kerry. He has a sickly resemblance to my Grandfather.
