I wonder if anyone ever tried to cash in mint bags...

I had a similar situation to yours a couple of months ago, except it was a mint roll of 2003-P Sacagawea dollars. I noticed that it was already opened or broken into, so I decided to place almost all the coins into circulation (I saved one for myself).

I thought that the 1987s were also NIFC? Mintage agrees with what I've heard...anyone want to verify this?

(If it helps, I've found exactly ONE 1987 in about $8,000 worth of halves...)

500 miles and $2000 in halves today netted me... $75 in gas and $50 for a chipped windshield. I did find several NIFCs, but are they easily unloadable?

Went through about seven rolls of dollars. Got all the P presidential dollars available with a few D's. Including the 2011 Andrew Johnson dollar.

Correct, my apologies. So are the 1970's.

I limit my dumping to a couple of hundred at any one time. Then I generally deposit it to my account. But I can spread it over several branches in my city so they don't get hit too often.

But again, I search for varieties and errors, not just for silver, so I do all the denominations.

Dumping large amounts of halves would be detrimental to my hobby, as I think they would cut me off quickly. IMHO

sigh - first real 'box' ordered from BofA and I got one 2000 S - at least it wasn't a total bust

Picked up a few rolls of quarters the other day, one '59 and one roll of 2011 Gettysburg straight from the mint - nice to pick up at no premium.

Found my first war nickel this week. I started getting 5-10 rolls of nickels a couple of times a week. I was supposed to get a box last weekend with a box of halves but the head teller forgot to pull them from the vault nor tell anyone about it. I decided to keep any pre-1950 nickels.

Re: the NIFC halves. I am keeping 1 roll of each year for now. I am wondering if I am better off trying to find original mint rolls rather than keeping the circulated ones.

My last box netted me 2 Franklins and 3 40%er's. The prior 2 boxes were skunks for silver.

Whoever was searching dollars, google cheerios dollar. Those are quite rate and valuable. Only 5000 made I think and most are floating in circulation because the kids took them out of the cereal and spent them.

Needle in a haystack. Equivalent to finding, oh, a 1969-S DDO #1 in your change.

Last box of cents yielded 8 rolls of copper. Found a 1984 DDR with a doubled column. Can't post a pic, because I set it with a "second look" batch and need to find it. LOL

I just had a nice score about 15 minutes ago, and from all places it was my local walmart! One of the girls that works there, informed me that there was a couple of silver coins up front that she had set aside for me. Much to my (holy crap) surprise, there was a 64' quarter, 56' 61' 63' and 64' roosies, all D's, and 19 40% halves!!! This makes up for the last couple of weeks in which I have been skunked!

I did (2) more boxes of halves today and got SKUNKED on both. The long roadtrip yesterday was decent, but the boxes/bags this week locally were 0 for 8.

I may have to plan more long roadtrips if the boxes and bags locally turn out like last week.

    Box of cents;

'20-D (pretty sure this fills a hole.) EDIT: Yep, fills a hole.
    '44 x2
    '44-D x2
    '49
    '50
    '52
    '52-D
    '55x2
    '56-D
    '57-D x3
    '58-D x2

    BU's; '62 and '70.

    11 Canadians.

1 cool '76 counterstamped with a small liberty bell left of Lincoln, and a mini map of the continental US on right with the letters "U.S.A." inside.

Oh, and an interesting 1970... tapered planchet error.

Got some halves, dimes, nickels, and cents today. Not much, a few wheats and pre-60 nickels. I haven't figured out the copper percentage yet but it't gotta be pretty high. Oh, I also foun my first major error. Its a '87 cent. There is a curved line running through Lincoln's head, and then the letters "OG NI". I'm assuming that the coin slipped out of the colar thing and was re-stamped. If anyone has any info on it let me know.
