I found 9 65-68 Kennedys and one Franklin out of... 35 rolls. It's funny because ALL the Kennedys were in one roll with red nailpolish on them. I removed the polish and immediately just sold them for melt.

I also found a proof nickel and a copper nickel (looks like the nickel was stripped, so there are circulation marks all over it!) in 22 rolls of nickels.

That sucks. I think I have the best dump bank on the planet. My bank requested that I wait and bring them halves in 1000 increments. they hold them and ship them out at 1000 so all I do is bring them the bags they give me, each filled with 1000 in halves. They don't care if I bring 1 bag or 10, as long as they're each 1000 so they can just put them in the vault and ship them out.

    2 '64 dimes out of a box.

I have long ago given up on BWR halves. They are not worth my time. Leave them to those who order 20 boxes at a time (and find 10 silver). Not for me.

Whats the average time for most of you guys to go through boxes. I only do halves but for you veterans that do cents and dimes how long does it take you?

I am torn on how much I want to educate tellers. On one hand, it's nice to introduce someone to the hobby but on the other hand, she now may be pulling coins for herself.

One of my tellers is interested, and holds onto war nickels, Buffs, etc. for herself, and I have given her steelies. She holds onto interesting bills for me, and supplies me with as many BWR dimes as she has that I want, no questions (The bank never has halves, but it is near my office). I like getting other people interested in an interesting hobby, even if I lose out a little.

I once again had a very lucky day...

I went to the same bank where I managed to find 21 Franklins, a '64 Kennedy, and some 40% Kennedys and bought some more rolls. Two of them contained an even bigger find, probably from the same stash I found the other silver coins:

    *6 40% Kennedys (1965, 2x 1966, 2x 1967, 1969-D)
    *2 1964 Kennedys

    And, get this...

29 Franklins! As with the previous stash, they were beat up, but the dates ranged from 1948 to 1961. Specifically, I saw a 1948, 1949, 1950, 1950-D, 1952-S, 1953, and 1961.

I sold the lot to a coin dealer I usually do business with. I could have made more money from the lot if I sold it on eBay or somewhere else, but I was happy that I made some profit on the lot.

What's even more interesting is that I used some of the beat-up silver certificates to buy the halves so, I technically redeemed silver certificates for silver.

I have never contributed to this thread, so I thought I would today. Last year while searching cents, I found this civil war token. I am near Detroit, so it was a very nice find for me.

If the teller is only interested in errors, maybe they could find a way to trade the coins for ones that they like that the other has found.

Dimes depend on what kind of rolls; clear take me literally 5 minutes, paper rolls maybe 20-25. Takes me about 20 minutes to do a box of halves, so... same number of rolls. Cents, due to my habit of keeping the copper and checking for major $$$ varieties, take about an hour a box... just over a minute per roll.

Had another interview today, headed south afterwards along the same road as last Tuesday... today, the first bank I went into handed me 4 rolls of 40%'ers for face value. Clutch. Also picked up one 1964 later on, and a few more 40%'ers. Great day for me. :D

Got my first full box today. You know what I got? NOTHING! So disappointed. I wanted just one little tiny 40%er but no such luck. Should I try again next week?

    yes try again.

Some seem to be very lucky (for example, the Franklins found above were more than I have found in searching through $164,000 worth of halves). But if you keep at it, you will find silver.

When I first started, I found silver in my first 3 boxes, then got skunked for 9 boxes in a row. I felt like quitting, but glad I didn't as I have now amassed quite a little hoard of silver.
