Just want to take a survey on what you guys think about the toning on this Morgan. I would grade it MS62-63. do you think it's AT or NT? I know it's from being in the holder but just want your opinions. What would you expect to pay, better yet what would you pay for it? Thanks for looking!

The first two photos are with the cover removed to eliminate glare.

Based on those photos, no. With better photos the answer may be different.

I've seen worse. Do you like it? I personally don't think it is too bad.

It is a pretty rose pinkish purple starting from the rims and turns to a golden yellow around her face. I DO like it. I was wondering if it would get a grade from NGC.

I don't see any reason it would not grade. It is natural toning, not damage.

No brainer NT. Common toning pattern for GSA morgans. Toning is neutral to negative because of blotchiness, IMO.

It's not a GSA. I think it's just a generic holder. It comes open very easily.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I like it. I think it's NT.

That being said, I don't think that coin will attract the huge premiums that some of the rainbow toned Morgans you see people post in this forum will.

Thanks for the correction. My mistake.

I've never dipped before. Don't know what to use, where to get it, or how to use it. I like this toning, but I do have a few that are great candidates for a dip, if I knew where to begin.

I like all toning unless it takes a on a strange pattern or is near terminal (black). I like the OP's morgan. :)

What makes them great candidates? I am pretty sure you can easily find information on dipping a coin.

Just some ugly toning. Here's an example. I wouldnt do it to this one because it a Carson City, but this a perfect example of 'ugly' toning.

Circulated coins rarely, if ever, look better after a dipping.

Mint state or proof coins are a different story entirely.

Well, it is obiviously your choice, but I do not see why you would dip those. There isn't any luster remaning. Diping them would give them that really 'flat' cleaned look. To me, as they sit now, they look to have nice original surfaces.

Here is a case where dipping was necessary. This is an uncirculated morgan with original luster. The toning was terrible looking and near terminal. Picture shows: original, dipped once, dipped twice

Good post. I know everyone is against damaging coins, but face it, some come to us damaged. That was horrible toning, and if left unchecked would have permanently scarred the coin.

I wouldn't dip it. What would I pay for it 50-60.
