Hello, Can anyone tell me anything about this Brazilian note? Am I crazy because I don't see a date anywhere? Is that siganture on the front of the note supposed to be there? I do not have a paper money catalog either, so can I get some identification and information please. thank you! -greg
After looking some up on ebay, I see that they all have a signature on them, however they are not the same signature. Whats up with that?
Don't know about the signature, but it looks like a series from 1925. I don't know how long they were used.
Yeah, I also determined it was a 1925. I am just curious now about the signature, and why they are different on every one I saw from the same series. I won't even venture to guess.
This looks like Pick-29a with handwritten signature. It is from 1925 and value is about $6.00 in VG ($2.50 in Good and $10.00 in Fine).
Paper money from all over the world had hand written signatures from the early days of paper money up to late 1800s. Brazil hand-signed papermoney up to 1950 (but they also had printed signatures). I don't know who signed them.
The signature is a validation. All notes from this series and the next two series (through the late 1940s) had hand signatures. I remember seeing a picture of a room full of people who did nothing all day long but sign the Brazilian notes prior to issuing them. I have collected these series for almost 20 years and have yet to find two notes signed by the same person. Some people will mistake these as short snorters. These notes will show up on short snorter rolls but the signature across the portrait is not part of the short snorter.
