I tried collecting Canadian coins but there are just too many and though I'm quite young (25) I figured if I was gonna complete a set it would be NFLD. There are a lot of varieties though... >< I will post some more too.
all great peices.. guys.. i like def.. like.. i own a complete canadian cent set from which i understand isnt that spectacular by any means... but im suprise the condition of canadian cents as compared to new foundland...
Great looking Canadians etc. I'm always on the lookout for the older silver coins! Can anyone say which dates are 90% or is 80% the standard? I mean I certainly collect 80%, but I just like to know if I'm missing anything. Any good links I should know about? :thumb:
Great NFLD stuff Beautiful coins guys, especially that toned 1898 50 Cents by MatticusFinch just spectacular. I love the reverse design on these Newfoundland Silver coins, such as on the ones posted, or the type on my 1894 10 cents. fretboard : the pre 1944 ones are .925 fine, and the 1944 and later silver coins are .800 fine silver. My 2004 Standard Catalogue of World Coins seems to show no later dates than 1947 for Newfoundland coins. I'm sure someone who knows more about Canadian coinage could tell you why.
I should post more, I have tonnes of amazingly toned coins. Newfoundland are simply the best coins to collect. Closed set with gold! What more can you ask for. Prices are very low but the hardest part is simply finding the coins to buy. Rarely will there be an MS Victoria coin. It's just much too fun!
Yeah you got some beauties!! I'll keep an eye out for sure! :thumb: I appreciate the information up there Rexesq! :thumb:
the coins of the canadian confederation and colonies are really pleasing on the eye, what a shame they are now churning out so much dross from the RCM.
