Last night was a special night at my coin club meeting. I have been a member of the Boston Numismatic Society for several years now and last night I was elected Vice President. To top off the night the first official act from the new President was to appoint my son Christopher (ziggy9.1) the first YN Coordinator the club has ever had. I am proud to serve in this position and have some huge shoes to fill.

A history of the club can be read here http://digital.ipcprintservices.com/display_article.php?id=454506

    Thanks
    Richard

Congrats Ziggy; that's quite a prestigious position to hold. And how neat to be able to have your son involved in the org too.

Congratulations on your election and the recognition for your son. It would be interesting and enlightening for some , if you would post here, a single sample copy of your monthly meeting minutes , which is mailed to each member after the conclusion of the previous months meeting.

Is Ed Hipps still around these days ? I was a member of the Dallas Coin Club back in the early 80's and 90's . My regards .

Ed's still in the area and does many of the local shows, but as far as I know he's not a member any more. At a minimum I've never seen him at a meeting, and I've been going for over 10 years.

I believe that the longest tenured members that still show up regularly are Frank Clark and Ron Blaha. Victor Toogood just died a couple of months back, and he was coming to meetings until maybe 6 months before he died.

can i become an honourary member richard? my fathers family can be traced back to the 11th century and 2 members were among the first settlers of the USA and they originate in boston lincolnshire, hence your city's name. and almost all the allisons in the USA can be traced back to the original settlers.

Unfortunately due to problems in the club's distant past there is a requirement in the bylaws that requires a person to attend 2 meetings and be sponsored by a current member before he/she may be accepted for membership.

I share your interest in genealogy. I have traced myself to the Cogswell's who came to the new world in 1635. They trace back through the Plantagenets back to Charlemagne, my 36th great grandfather.
