I got an 1806 Draped Bust, Large 6, with stems with my coin club auction haul tonight. It's one of the best pieces I have so far. I can't tell you how excited I am to have this one!
I hope it was a good price. They valued it at 90 and I got it at 75. By the way, the picture sucks. I still don't know how to take decent pics. It does look better in person. Not spectacularly better, but better.
And while she was getting that and an 1864 2 cent in better shape, I was snagging these... And this in the mail from ebay today...
The reverse is only lighter because of my inability to take good pictures. I'm still working on it. What "issue" are you speaking of?
No offense at all! The joker slash comment was about the barber. I thought maybe you saw an issue on my coin. My heart dropped there for a minute! Smoke is my husband. We were at the same coin club meeting tonight. He got the barber on ebay for dirt cheap. The slash gives it a nice comic book villain flavor, don't you think?
I see!!!! You guys are talking about the Barber!!! Stupid 'yank' I am (outside Boston)...lol I didn't think I saw any 'slashes' on the half-cent! I got it now! And I STILL think it's a gorgeous coin!!! I figured the lighter reverse was an imaging thing, but didn't want to offend your imaging skills, and I wind up 'screwing the pooch' on the coin! lol I saw no issues with it, just that luscious 'copper brown'...I love that.
Yeah, I saw the slash on the pic on Ebay, but it is still such a nice coin, and no one was really bidding on it, I had to snag it.
Oh, husband/wife thing? I was half right about the 'inside' thing...lol And, I like that Columbian......it's got that great circulated 'look' to it (the Peace $ is kinda sharp too!).
Outta curiosity, what did you pay on the Columbian? Asking because I just bought several for under melt, and am wondering if I can sell 'em for a profit.
LOL, my imaging skills suck. I can't seem to get the proper lighting on my coins. Either it's too shadowed or it's not focused right. I have a super duper camera but I don't know how to use it yet. So yes, it's totally my imaging skills that are making the coin look less than it truly is. I'm just enchanted with it. Fabulous coin. I wish I could find a way to share its beauty. And yes, isn't that brown wonderful? It screams "history" at me. Where has that coin been? Who used it and what did they use it for? If only it could talk. Oh by the way, even though I'm in a "southern" state, I'm in Northern VA, practically DC. Northern VA is completely different from the rest of the state. I feel like a Yankee. I don't feel remotely southern at all.
