Absolutely not. He has clearly stated that he is selling 40% silver halves. If you want particular dates you should shop elsewhere.
No problem at all with the auction. Here's a link: http://cgi.ebay.com/4-Kennedy-Halve...88?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item4aa912ab38
No. The seller clearly stated that you will receive 4 Kennedy 40% clad dated between 65-70. That could be any combination as long as they are in the date range the seller advertised them to be. Looking at the auction from the link provided by jloring, someone got a deal as the price of silver at the time of this post is $36.00, each half has a melt value of $5.32 for the total melt value of 4 halves of $21.30. The items sold for $17.50.
Well I guess I'm in the minority. I feel the lack of information is deceiving and if it were MY auction, I would simply say 4 "random" halves from 65-70. The auction had a picture of a 1965. Gives a date range of 1965-1970, insinuating a RANGE of coins. Seller obviously had no intentions of giving a 1970, yet it's included in the range. It is of my opinion that the seller is dumping the more common 1967's and 1968's while having no intentions of supplying the 1970 or 1965.
The way it is worded the seller is not selling for collector value but rather silver value only. Date doesn't matter to silver value. I think you are amking assumptions. Richard
You are 100% correct. Assumptions WERE made. Would it make a difference if an email was sent stating those assumptions to the seller?
If you had expectations of receiving specific dated Kennedys, with the date range mentioned clearly in the auction listing, you could have contacted the seller to inquire of this. However, there is nothing deceptive in the auction listing. The seller clearly stated that the auction is for 4 40% clad Kennedy halves within the date range of 1965 - 1970. Case closed.
