Had a banner coin collecting day. A friend who has a house clean out business brought over a few things he has found over the years and this was what I bought for $40. How did I do? Also, any info on these would be great, they are all silver.

    Thanks in advance!

That's a pretty good haul for $40. The 1875 CC Above dime is worth more then half of that ;) The Prussian thaler (first coin) is also worth more then $20 so you got your $40 back in 2 coins ;)

    Thanks Dutch!
the second and third coins are both hammered. I think they are my favorites of the lot.

    Spanish I think?

Yes, spanish, and no, not hammered. Coins haven't been hammered since what? The 1600's or so?

Most likely Mexican or South American... but possibly from Spain itself... the mintmarks can be used to determine the countries of origin.

Sweet pick ups Mark. You are having a good day. I especially like the Thaler and the Spanish coins. Congrats.

For $40, that was a steal. The 1800 2 Reales is from Peru (Lima). Unfortunately, I can't read either the denomination or the mintmark on the other Spanish coin (the mintmark might be Mexico City, but it's really worn). The Thaler is common, but cool.

Yep. And you can tell the denomination where it says 2R, 4R, or 8R. BTW, those should be about the size of a quarter, half dollar, and dollar respectively.

If you don't know yet, the ones in the last picture are from Brazil (top) and France.

I like the 2 realies, they are hard to find in any worthwhile condition. Congrads Merlin.
I think Merlins 1780 coin was minted in Madrid, M with a small crown on top.
